1. Understand anatomical terminology.
1.1 Explain structures and movements using
anatomical terms.
1.2 Analyse the human body in terms of organ
systems, organs, tissues and cells.
1.3 Discuss the morphology and
microanatomy of cells in connective and
muscle tissues.
2. Understand the muscular system.
2.1 Analyse the functions of the skeletal
system including the main type of joints
and the role of connective tissues.
2.2 Analyse development of the skeleton.
2.3 Discuss relationships between structures
of bones and their functions.
2.4 Analyse structure and function in a range
of joints.
2.5 Discuss how muscular forces are
transmitted by the skeletal system.
3. Understand the skeletal system and
locomotion.
3.1 Explain the types of muscle cells, the
contractile response, innervation of muscle
and their component muscle cells.
3.2 Analyse the structure of typical muscles.
