“For my house will be called a house of prayer.” Scripture Reading Psalm 23 A psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 2 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. As the Islamist Seleka militants continue to wreak havoc across the stricken country, Christians in the city of Bangassou organised a protest against them on 8th October but armed Muslims stopped them by force, and 10 people were killed in the ensuing violence. Further attacks on 12th October left 4 more Christians dead. A local church leader said, “We’re overwhelmed, inundated by thousands of men, women and children seeking refuge from the fighting.” If you have a particular prayer request for inclusion in the Prayer Diary, please speak to Nicky Smith (our Locum), or Eleanor Browne or Shona Morris (Prayer Coordinators). Alternatively, complete a prayer request slip, found on the prayer trolley.
