Year 5 Home Learning Date to be returned: 15/02/17 Spelling Below are three spelling lists, the learners have been directed to the appropriate list for them and only need to practise their list. You may wish to practise using the look, say, cover, write, check method. The learners are then asked to put their words into sentences to fully embed the spelling patterns. The learners will be tested on their spellings every Friday. This could take the form of a reading book from school, a book from home, a magazine, a newspaper or even a website such as News round. We would like learners to look at News round website and write a summary of the most interesting news story that they have found. Writing should be at least 2 paragraphs and include reasons why they chose this news story interesting. Maths The following are example questions from the year 5 procedural maths tests. Please complete as many as you can in your home learning books. Calculators will not be allowed during the test to answer the questions below. 320 oranges are divided equally into 5 boxes. How many oranges are in each box? oranges 260 apples are divided equally into 4 boxes. How many apples are in each box? apples 90 colouring pens were divided equally between 6 children. How many colouring pens did each child have? Colouring pens We have also attached a copy of reasoning questions. Children are allowed to use a calculator for the attached test example. English This week we have attached copies of an example of test questions from the Welsh National reading test.
