DA3 - Performance on a Set Theme
This circular outlines the choice of stimulus material available for candidates preparing for the A level
DA3 practical unit. This unit will be assessed by a visiting examiner during the spring term of 2017.
Candidates will work in groups in response to one of the stimuli below:
(a)
Somewhere out there
(b)
Kubla Khan – Coleridge
OR
Y Ffynhonnau – Rhydwen Williams
(c)
Dancing Queen – Abba
(d)
Another Place – Antony Gormley
Candidates will prepare two performances, each in a different performance style. They will either
act or demonstrate a technical production skill within the group. The minimum number of candidates
acting in the group must be two and the maximum number, four. In addition to this number, a
maximum of two candidates can offer different technical and design skills in each group.
The performance will include:


scenes/extracts from a published text
a piece devised by the group.
