Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27th 1858 in New York. His mother was Martha Bulloch Roosevelt. Theodore Roosevelt was named after his father. Theodore was an only child. Theodore went to Harvard University then to Columbia Law School. He met working people and learned about unfair things that happened to them. He wanted to work in politics to help change those things. He took over as a police commissioner in New York. His first wife was Alice Hathaway his second wife was Edith Kermit. He had 1 girl and 5 boys. He was elected vice president of the United States under William McKinley. He served for 2 terms during the years of 1901 – 1905 and 1905 – 1908. In 1908, Roosevelt retires his presidency to William Taft. He later runs for president again and loses to Woodrow Wilson in 1912. He did not have a vice president during his first term of office. During his term, his vice president was Charles w. Fairbanks. His political party affiliation is republican. Important events or acts that occurred during this presidency are big companies charged unfair prices and didn`t pay their workers enough money. Theodore forced these big companies to change. The people who influenced him are his mom and dad. Theodore won the novel peace prize in 1906. After he retired, he went on adventures, fished and hunted. In 1909, he traveled to Africa to hunt wild animals. He also traveled to Europe during his retirement. On January 6, 1919, Roosevelt died peacefully in his sleep. He is remembered for being a bold leader who was just right for the times.
