Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team
WWAST Players in the Albuquerque, NM Play It Forward Tournament
April 1-3, 2016
Dear Friends,
The WWAST participated in one event over the last 30 days. From April 1-3 the
team played in the Pay it Forward USSSA Tournament in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. The event started off on Friday with a golf tournament followed by a
dinner at the American Legion Post 49. On Saturday, the tournament kicked off.
After losing the first game, the WWAST kicked it into high gear and won their next
three games before losing to the tournament runner-up. This gave the team a
much-deserved 3rd Place for the tournament. Mike Gallardo, Jon Herst, Cody
Rice, Frank Wasson, and Chris Hutton led the home run barrage for the team on
the weekend. We would like to thank the event organizer, all the players, and fans
who welcomed us in Albuquerque. We look forward to coming back for a future
event!
The WWAST will be participating in three events over the next 30 days. From April
22-24 we travel to Charleston, South Carolina for the second year in a row for a
doubleheader on Saturday against a local military team and against Charleston's
First Responders. In addition, WWAST players will get a chance to give back and
participate in a mini-Kids Camp for children with amputations or missing limbs on
Friday afternoon (April 22). From April 29-May 1 we go to Lubbock, Texas for an
event. The event starts on Friday night with an exhibition game at the Lubbock
Christian University Sports Complex. On Saturday morning (April 30), WWAST
players will participate in the Family Power Sports Pride Motorcycle ride to the War
Memorial followed by a Car and Bike show. That evening the WWAST will play in a
doubleheader against local celebrities and athletes at the LCU Sports Complex.
From May 6-8 the WWAST travels to Fort Carson, Colorado to play two games as
part of the 6th Annual Wounded Warrior Classic softball tournament. If you are in
the vicinity to any of these events, be sure to come out and see us.

WWAST Partnership with ASA/USA Softball
The WWAST announces their partnership with Amateur Softball Association
(ASA)/USA Softball. ASA/USA Softball is the strongest softball organization in the
United States, and is also the National Governing Body of Softball. As the National
Governing Body, ASA/USA Softball is responsible for fairness and equal
opportunity in competition, and in addition, they introduced the first set of uniform
official rules to the sport. This partnership will be mutually beneficial for both
organizations.
"As a player and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Wounded Warrior
Amputee Softball Team, I can say we are excited to partner with ASA/USA Softball
and to participate in additional ASA/USA Softball events," said Josh Wege.
"ASA/USA Softball is the standard of excellence in softball and their values of
Teamwork, Fair Play, Common Good, and Promotion/Education align with those of
our team."
"ASA/USA Softball has a long history of supporting our military members and
veterans while honoring the sacrifices they have given and continue to give," said
ASA/USA Softball Executive Director Craig Cress. "In partnering with the Wounded
Warrior Amputee Softball Team, we are excited to further our support while helping
bring awareness to their team and program. It's truly an honor to call the Wounded
Warrior Amputee Softball Team a partner, and we're looking forward to spreading
their inspirational message throughout the U.S. and the world."
The WWAST is looking forward to this partnership and for the support of this very
important organization in the sphere of softball.

A Message from Our Fans
"On March 20, 2016 myself and three friends went to White Sands Missile Range
and ran/walked the 26.2 miles Bataan Death March. It was a time to know I was
blessed and reflect on the 60 mile Bataan of April 1942. There were times I didn't
know if I had it in me to keep going but two participants I would hear them
encourage each other and those struggling along the way. I was so inspired by
them, their commitment to the course and themselves. They talked about their
training for the race and their challenges and as I heard them I was more
interested in knowing these two amazing individuals. Their names are Frank
Wasson and Greg Reynolds. They will never know how much they pushed me to
the finish line, A couple miles from the finish I had the pleasure of talking with them
and hearing more about their mission of inspiring and encouraging others. At the
finish they pushed me further by inviting me to join them in 26 pushups, how could
I say "no". They told me about the April 2, 2016 softball games in Albuquerque,
NM. They made such an impression on me that I wanted to share their story with
my 2 kids that play softball and baseball. We went out to watch a couple of games
and they were very impressed. That even with obstacles and challenges, WWAST
can still encourage, uplift, inspire and laugh with one another and to top it off WIN

too!! The team was so nice and treated my kids so special with signing a softball
and taking pictures with them. My son wears his WWAST jersey proudly that I
bought for him. Keep doing what you do. It makes a difference. Thank you again
Frank and Greg for sharing your story with me. You are special and change lives!!"
