You must complete any USU admission and financial aid requirements before receiving summer aid. You must be in good standing (Pace & GPA) to receive a summer financial aid offer prior to summer semester If you are on financial aid WARNING or PROBATION, you cannot receive a financial aid offer prior to summer semester. Please contact our office to see if you are eligible for summer aid after your spring 2017 grades update. Check below if you are interested in: How many credits are you taking summer semester? Student Loans (Undergraduates must maintain 6 credits summer semester. Graduates must maintain 5 credits summer semester.) Pell Grants: Only students not enrolled full-time fall 2016 or spring 2017 may be eligible for summer Pell grant. Eligible students automatically receive any leftover Pell grant. Please allow 2 weeks for processing. Summer award notices go to your preferred email address listed on my.usu.edu. You will receive a notification by email if you are currently ineligible for summer aid. Student loans are available if you did not receive the maximum amount allowed for the 16-17 year. Summer aid refunds mail out or direct deposit the week of May 8, 2017. USU reserves the right to modify your summer financial aid at any time. (See special rules below) o Grants will increase and decrease based on enrollment through July 3. o Courses added after July 3 are not eligible for any grant aid. There are special rules for students who drop session courses while receiving financial aid: You will receive your aid at the beginning of summer term. Summer semester divides into different sessions. If you have courses in the second session, you will have not established eligibility until you begin participating academically in the second session beyond July 3. If you do not complete your course(s) in the second session, you may be required to repay some or all of your financial aid. I understand that I will have to return summer financial aid if I do not establish eligibility by participating academically in all my courses through July 3. (I may be required to document academic participation for classes dropped after July 3.) Even after establishing eligibility, I understand that if I drop, withdraw from, or fail any summer courses, I may still be required to pay back some or all of my summer financial aid. I understand that if the school cancels a summer course, I may be required to return some or all of my summer financial aid unless I can add another eligible course by July 3. I understand that I have to repay unearned financial aid to USU before I can register for future terms, receive my academic transcript, etc. I understand that failure to repay USU may result in collections and garnishment.
