7th Grade Benchmarks Religion Students will discover who God is and develop a relationship with faith, scripture, tradition, and love. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the Holy Trinity. Students will analyze Jesus’s plan for and promise of salvation through forgiveness and resurrection. Students will illustrate their knowledge of the seven sacraments. Students will determine if something is a function, complete a function table, and graph ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. Social Studies: Texas History On Level Advanced Students will operate with rational numbers. Students will compute and analyze statistical data and graphical representation. Students will determine the patterns, relationships, and algebraic representations of real-world situations. Students will predict the outcome of independent and dependent events. Students will analyze, write, and graph linear functions. Students will recognize the relationships among geometric figures and calculate their attributes. Students will classify, write, graph, and solve quadratic equations Science Life Science – Cell Biology, Genetics, Classification of the Animal Kingdom, Dissection On level Students will identify and define the parts of an animal and plant cell. Students will recognize functions of each cell organelle. Students will explain the importance of the cell cycle and the cell’s ability to reproduce and to function for a living thing to work properly. Students will identify animals from each family and will classify them with characteristics that are dominate for each group. Students will dissect to discover how the clam, crayfish, and frog are anatomically set up. Students will discover how each animal family leads into the next animal family and how characteristics are always evolving. Advanced Students will differentiate between mitosis and meiosis in the living cell. Students will breakdown photosynthesis into its stages and will add the concept of ATP. Students will interpret Punnett squares. Students will research genetic diseases. Students will organize animals into their kingdom, family, genus, and species. Students will graph and measure accurately with all forms of scientific tools. Students will compare and assess many forms of living things and will be able to determine what animal family they belong to. The student will graph timelines showing dates important to Texas History. The student will distinguish between various Native Texans. The student will explore the reasons behind the colonization of Texas by the Spanish missionaries. The student will describe the explorers of Texas. The student will rearrange the canons at the Alamo to ensure the Texan’s victory. The student will explain the how historical figures (i.e. Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, etc.) were pivotal in Texas History Advanced The student will recreate life as a Native Texan The student will demonstrate life in a mission by walking younger students through a mission. The student will compare the explorers and their accomplishments to evaluate which was most successful. The student will generate an Alamo model and rearrange the canons to ensure the Texan’s victory. The student will research and reenact the elections for Texas president with debates.
