Shelly and other marine fossils have been found in building foundations and during street construction, in the Dargile Formation in particular. The Black Rock Sandstone, part of the PlioceneBrighton Group mentionedearlier, contains similar marine shells at the Beaumaris type locality. Sharks teeth, whale, penguin and albatross bones have also been retrieved from here.
