December 2016
Mensaje del Director
Dear MSI & Pre-k Families,
Every year at this time I look at the date and can’t
believe we are ending another calendar year.
Enrollment
We are taking applications for kindergarten enrollment for
2017-2018.
We hope that we will see several applications from our PreK
families along with other Mansfield families and out-ofdistrict families. If you know of someone with a child
entering kindergarten next year, please tell them about us.
Applications can be filled out online or by stopping in our
building.
Welcome, December
MSI Holiday concert
Our holiday concert is this Thursday, December 1st at 6:30.
Choir students should meet in the auditorium at about
6:15. Orchestra students will go to the band room first and
then meet Mrs. Tremmel on stage. Students can come
dressed for the holidays or with a light-colored top and
dark-colored skirt or pants. Thank you Mrs. Walter and Mrs.
Tremmel for planning this concert!
Thank you to all the families who came to the ParentTeacher conferences or made arrangements to meet
with their child’s teacher(s) this month. I hope that you
shared with your child all the wonderful news about
their progress along with any areas of need.
One of the ways you can encourage progress in
school is by reading to your child or having them read
to you. Family reading is linked to school success.
Research shows that you are also improving your
child’s chances of success in reading, writing,
language and math. Here are some suggestions:
 Read every day. Make this a fun part of your
daily routines.
 Visit the public library regularly.
 Surround your child with books, magazines, etc.
Have them handy for your child to enjoy and
help build vocabulary.
This month we are encouraging all our children to
practice the skill of giving to others. We will have our
own giving tree in which families can pick an ornament
and donate the item written on it. Also, we have our
toy drive for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Finally,
each class will be making pictures that we are giving
to others within our greater Mansfield community.
The MSI & Pre-K staff would like to wish everyone a very
Happy and Healthy Holiday season! We look forward
to everything that 2017 will bring our community.
Go Tygers! ¡Adelante al éxito!

Pre-K students and families should use the Arlington St. door during
arrival and dismissal.
Please try to drop off students after 8:30. If there is an emergency
and you need to drop your student off earlier, please call.
Entering through the cafeteria door is best for all K-6 students,
whether they are having breakfast or not.
When students arrive, they can either stay in the cafeteria for
breakfast (free for all) or go to the gym, unless given permission by
a teacher
Parents, if you are going to enter the building before or during
school time, please park on the opposite side of Euclid
K-6 parents, please drop off students in front of the cafeteria. If you
need to park and leave the car, please park on the other side of
the street.
We encourage all k-6 families to use the car line for student pick
up. However, if you need to come into the school to pick up your

closer to Arlington. Any parked cars near the cafeteria interfere
with dismissal.
Winter is knocking on our door. Please make sure that your child is
dressed for the weather conditions. We do try to make sure that
children have outdoor recess every day.
Many of our lost and found clothing has been reunited with its
owner, but we still have some coats and shirts. Please remind your
child to look through these items or call the office, and we’ll take a
look for you. Any unclaimed items at the end of the semester will
be donated.

Volunteers
We need all kinds of
volunteers to help with
reading logs, read with
students, laminate, etc.
Please contact Mrs.
Wendling.
Lunches
Please be mindful of how
many days in a row your child
has bought a lunch and how
quickly they are using up their
funds. Depositing weekly or
monthly is helpful.
Buena suerte to all the indoor fútbol, basketball players, gymnasts, cheerleaders, musicians, martial
arts students, dancers and Padawans this season!
