Course Content
Offering a world-class training on PV System design, in line with
the know-how of the German DGS (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sonnenenergie - German Solar Energy Society), and tailored to fit the
Egyptian Market.
Basics:
 Basics of solar electricity (series, parallel
connection, current, voltage and their influence on
yields, I-V-characteristic curve),
 Exercises with small PV systems and the LexSolar
experimental kits,
 PV System concepts (off-grid, on-grid, backup)
Site Visit to see a on-grid PV system
 PV plant components and data sheets.
Join now and learn how to:
 Perform site surveys,
 Consult your customers to design the right PV system,
 Design grid-tied PV system according the consumption patterns,
 Select the system components, and auxiliaries,
 Prepare a feasibility study and quotation for roof-top, grid-tied
PV systems.

Why should I participate in this course?
The Government of Egypt has ratified the feed-in tariff for grid-tied
photovoltaic (PV) Systems. The PV market is thus moving towards
finding technically and financially viable PV systems for various
target groups.
This course is designed to equip engineers, designer, consultants,
and project managers with both the information required and the
line of thought necessary to technically design a profitable grid-tied
PV system. The course will also educate participants on generating the evidence, be it a feasibility study and/or yield study. In addition, PV Project management shall be addressed.
Fees
 EGP 7,000 L.E. per person Early Bird (before 20 February)
 EGP 8,500 L.E. per person
Including: Lunch, coffee breaks, training handouts, exam fee and
certificates.
Schedule: 15 to 17/03/2015, daily from 9am to 5pm
All participants will have a voucher (3000LE), for their first
order from maxx-solar energy (minimum order of 30,000LE).
Planning and Design:
 Case Study: Design of a PV system for a typical
Egyptian household,
 Yield analysis and optimisation,
 Sizing of components and cables (with and without
software tools),
 Calculation of roof-top PV systems with and
without simulation programs (6 week software
license included),
 Customer Consultation and site survey.
Operation and monitoring:
 Post installation (routine inspection, data capturing,
trouble shooting),
 Site monitoring (online),
 Fault finding and quality assurance.
Pre-requisites:
 Participation in the maxx Solar Power Sunrise

2014, The maxx solar academy and IBC Solar launched the
maxx-solar academy Egypt, offering a world-class training
programme tailored for the Egyptian market, and focusing on
the design, engineering, installation, and quality assurance
of grid-tied and off-grid photovoltaic systems. Togehter with
SEDA, DGS trained more than 150 Egyption professionals
during 2014 only.
Accreditation and Certification
Courses are accredited by the German Solar Energy Society
DGS (www.dgs.de) and are internationally recognized. All participants will get an internationally recognized certificate of participation. The certificate is issued jointly by the maxx-solar academy and the German Solar Energy Society DGS. Furthermore
the participants can set for a 1,5 h exam on the last training day
to become DGS certified “DGS Solar Power Designer”.
The maxx-solar academy, Africa´s Premier Training Institute on Solar Power is a non-profit training center for solar energy. It was established in 2011 by the German Solar
Energy Society DGS and the maxx solar energy PTY Ltd.
South Africa. Since 1996 hundreds of engineers, architects,
craftsmen and interested citizens have been taking part in the
maxx-academy and DGS courses worldwide. Only in South
Africa we trained more than 300 participants during 2014.
International certified DGS Trainers
Dr.-Ing., Matthias Klauss, has more than 10 years experience in
the planning and construction of photovoltaic (PV) systems ranging in size from 1 kWp to 20 MWp. He is an authorised expert
of PV systems and an accredited DGS trainer since 2008. He is
also the president of the German RAL Quality Control Association for Solar Energy Systems and Vice-president of the DGS
Thuringia.
