YMCA of Greater Des Moines Group Exercise
Active Older Adults: This program is designed for active older adults to effectively learn how to use a variety of fitness formats
that help to build strength, cardiovascular fitness, balance and flexibility, but most of all have fun. You don’t have to be an active
older adult to take this class.
Basic Combo: A great choice for members just getting started in an aerobic program or members who want a less complicated
workout. Classes will be basic foot patterns and emphasize safety and body alignment.
BodyJam®: BODYJAM® is a workout set to the latest music and greatest dance moves. It’s cardio fun at its best for those with a
passion for movement. You’ll burn calories, increase your fitness levels and learn to dance!!
BodyPump® & BodyPump Express®: BODYPUMP® is one of the world’s fastest ways to get in shape as it challenges all of your
major muscle groups while you squat, press, lift and curl to chart-topping music! The 45 minute version focuses on 8 Les Mills Body
Pump tracks, the 60 minute 10 tracks. Express classes are 30- or 45-minutes in length.
Body Sculpt: This is a muscle strength and endurance class designed to help tone and sculpt the entire body using a variety of
exercises and resistance equipment such as weights, balls and tubing.
Body Sculpt Core: This class focuses strictly on working the core muscle groups. Abdominal and lower back are emphasized. A
great addition to any workout.
Cardio Conditioning: A class for all ability levels. Class includes athletic drills, interval and circuit training all rolled into one. A
great addition to anyone’s cross-training routine.
Cardio Strength & Conditioning: This class combines interval and circuit training by alternating cardio-based drills with strengthbased exercises. A great class to challenge all abilities!
Cardio Kickbox: Are you ready for a very athletic Martial Arts inspired aerobic workout? Combines quick and powerful jabs and
punches for the upper body with leg kicks and squats for the lower body.
CXWORX®: Core-focused workout using resistance tubes, weight plates, and body weight exercises plus hip, butt and lower back
exercises. All the moves in CXWORX have options, so it’s challenging but achievable for your own level of fitness.
Delay the Disease™: Parkinson’s specific exercise program designed to help ease symptoms.
EnhanceFitness®: An evidence-based program designed to help older adults become more active, energized, and empowered to
sustain independent lives. Progress is measured with a follow-up fitness check after 4 months of class attendance.
H.E.A.T. (High Energy Aerobic Training): If you like cardio conditioning along with a great strength workout you will love HEAT!
This is a hardcore training-inspired class with a sport warm-up followed by plyometrics, body strength exercises and running.
Insanity LIVE!®: Are you up to the challenge? Turn old-school interval training on its head with Insanity Live. It’s the same
program from Shaun T., but with someone to coach you through with modifications if you need it.
Kids Fitness: Kids ages 7-12 years are invited to participate in this class to gain fitness knowledge and play relay races, fitness
games and kid-friendly stretches.
Step: A great low impact and moderate intensity workout that combines patterns on and around the stop. May include muscle
conditioning and stretching.
*Tiny Tumblers: Designed to provide children opportunities to explore fun activities through tumbling, games, and songs. Ages 18
months – 2 years.
Tots Gym: Kids ages 3-6 years are invited to participate in this class to develop large motor skills and rhythm through the use of
obstacle courses and games.
Trek Class: Treadmills: This class is held on the treadmills. This is an instructor led walking and running class using grade and
cadence for elements of intensity. Outside: Meet in the lobby prepared to leave at 5:10am – class will go as a group to the Dowling
track. Weather permitting. In case of inclement weather class will be held on the treadmills.
*Tumble Tots: Explore fun activities though gymnastics skills, movement and child-centered fitness. Ages 3-5years.
Strong by Zumba®: STRONG by Zumba® combines high intensity interval training with the science of Synced Music Motivation. In
every class, music and moves sync in a way that pushes you past your perceived limits to reach your fitness goals faster.
Zumba®: A fun, high energy aerobics workout for all fitness levels. You learn by watching the latin inspired moves and feeling the
beat of an eclectic array of music.
*Registration and fee required.
SCHEDULE NOTE: New schedules begin the first Monday of each month with the exception of January 1.
