DO NOT INCLUDE MUSIC OR A VOCAL COMMENTARY This month’s course is not timed (future courses will be) but you MUST Trot between obstacles! 1 Trot over tarpaulin immediately the horse’s back feet are off the tarp, stop and reverse (go backwards) until horse’s front feet are just off the tarpaulin then trot on over tarp to next obstacle. Handler and horse move together as a pair over this obstacle. The judge is looking for good halt to trot transitions. 2. Back through pole corridor which is 2ft or 60cm wide and at least 10feet long. Points deducted every time the pole is knocked. Handler to keep feet still from the moment the horse takes the first backward step. The back up must be two time, in other words the diagonal pairs of legs move together in rhythm. 3. Narrow gap, handler passes through gap while horse waits for 5 seconds then horse follows at trot when asked. Halts as soon as his hind end is beyond the gap on other side and backs through the gap without handler moving feet, horse then returns to handler at trot. 4 Back over pole Handler leads horse over a single pole on the ground until all four feet are over the pole then back him over the pole. Without handler moving feet. The back up must be two time, in other words the diagonal pairs of legs move together in rhythm. 5. Drape a flag over the horse’s head so that he cannot see and lead him at least 12 feet (4m).. Sorry no picture 1 6. Canter your horse between two markers at least 50feet (15m) apart. You may start in trot if you wish, but horse must maintain canter between markers on a loose rope. 7. Jump, any design At a low height.! Horse to jump from WALK. Horse to jump handler does not. Higher marks if you pass over or beside the jump at the same time as the horse! 8. Horse must stop immediately after jump and stand for 5 seconds. 9. Pole Fan. See construction left. Horse to walk round fan with handler. Maximum marks for horse not touching poles 10. Horse to reverse with handler (go backwards) around pole fan This document has been drawn up as a guide.
