This month’s course is not timed (future courses will be) but you MUST Trot
between obstacles!
1 Trot over tarpaulin immediately the
horse’s back feet are off the tarp, stop and
reverse (go backwards) until horse’s front
feet are just off the tarpaulin then trot on over
tarp to next obstacle. Handler and horse move
together as a pair over this obstacle. The
judge is looking for good halt to trot
transitions.
2. Back through pole corridor which is 2ft or
60cm wide and at least 10feet long. Points
deducted every time the pole is knocked.
Handler to keep feet still from the moment the
horse takes the first backward step. The back
up must be two time, in other words the
diagonal pairs of legs move together in
rhythm.
3. Narrow gap, handler passes through gap
while horse waits for 5 seconds then horse
follows at trot when asked. Halts as soon as
his hind end is beyond the gap on other side
and backs through the gap without handler
moving feet, horse then returns to handler
at trot.
4 Back over pole
Handler leads horse over a single pole on
the ground until all four feet are over the
pole then back him over the pole. Without
handler moving feet. The back up must be
two time, in other words the diagonal pairs
of legs move together in rhythm.
5. Drape a flag over the horse’s head so that he cannot see and lead him at least
12 feet (4m)..
