Resident Spotlight
Marc Mitchell
Marc has lived at Normandy Towers for two years and describes it as “wonderful!” This is
Marc’s first apartment, and he likes it so much that he would definitely recommend
Normandy to family and friends. He especially appreciates our many recent upgrades,
including the installation of our elegant new mailboxes and the enhanced lighting in the
upper level of our parking lot. Also, in keeping with this month’s featured theme, Marc loves
how warm and friendly his Normandy neighbors are, which he feels is what distinguishes us
from other neighborhood apartment communities. Marc enjoys studying history, and his
hobbies include basketball, swimming and chess. He is happy to report that he just received
his driver’s license, and even happier to share news of his recent marriage! Congrats, Marc,
and thank you (and your wife!) for being a part of our Normandy family!

Tips for Better Living
STAY FRESH AND SAVE CASH! (adapted from www.frugalliving.about.com)
Think the only way to save on groceries is with coupons? That’s only half the story. The key is
to keep food fresh so that it ends up on your plate, not in your trash. Tomatoes stay fresh
longest when stored at room temperature in a cool, dark place. Mushrooms belong in a
paper bag inside the refrigerator, but not in the crisper. Store butter in its original packaging
Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables
around, and the best
way to enjoy its
maximum flavor and nutritional value is to
cook it properly! First, remove the stalks and
tear the kale leaves into bite-size pieces.
Heat 1 tablespoon of the butter with the olive
oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add
squash and sprinkle with salt, chili powder
and pepper. Cook for several minutes,
turning gently until squash is golden brown
and tender, then remove to a plate and set
aside. Melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter
over medium heat and add kale. Toss with
tongs and cook for 3 -4 minutes. Add cooked
