and tens. (5 minutes)
Students may work independently or in
pairs. For the second problem, choose a
simple physical activity for students to
perform during a fixed time period (e.g. four
rounds of as many jumping jacks or squats
as possible in 20 seconds). Have students
record their data before creating their
picture graph. (15 minutes)

Demonstrate and discuss how to interpret and
create graphs that use scales, e.g. a bar graph
or picture graph where 1 unit = 5 puppies.
