Environmental enforcement project
In conjunction with Peterborough City Council the Parish Council continues to assist with
funding towards Environmental Enforcement in the Bretton area.
The project is delivered by two dedicated officers, an Environmental Officer and a
Neighbourhood Environment Officer who spend a minimum of 2 days a week patrolling
Bretton dealing with Environmental offences on a reactive basis.
During this period and by operating joint patrols, offences identified and handled have
included - Fly tipping, littering as well as household and trade waste issues.
Also assisting with this project are Environmental Litter Wardens who conduct patrols,
spending a minimum of 1 day per week in the Bretton area addressing littering and dog
fouling offences by issuing Fixed Penalty Notices.
It is early days for this project but as we can clearly see from the table below showing
details of work covering a recent 2 month period, enforcement and actions are proving this
to be a worthwhile investment in the environmental care of our community.

Parish Council notes - Keeping you up to date with some ongoing and recently completed work
Bretton Way/Mallard Road Bus shelter
Earlier this year the Parish Council responded to residents and community
requests to re-install a bus shelter near the Ice Arena in North Bretton at a
cost of £11.000 This cost was split evenly between Peterborough City
Council and ourselves to ensure the shelter - not on the city council priority list for replacement which could have seen a 2 year delay before being
considered - was in place at the earliest opportunity. The installation included bus shelter, replacement hard standing, waste bin and a new disabled / push chair entry level kerbside.
Park benches / Dog & Waste bins
If you are partial to a stroll through Bretton Park you may have noticed a number of
new benches, waste and dog bins around the cycle and pathways, we are committed
to a rolling programme of replacements for the damaged and missing benches
throughout Bretton starting with the park and hopefully spreading throughout the
Parish in the coming year - If you know of a damaged or missing bench please
contact the clerk with details. We are also in the process of installing additional dog
and general waste bins throughout the park - once again if you feel there is a need
for a bin of either sort where we haven’t noticed please contact the clerk to see
what can be done.

Message from the chairman
Bretton Parish Council and the Council Committees meet regularly
throughout the year in North & South Bretton, and you, the residents of
Bretton, are encouraged to attend and address every meeting.
At long last we now also have a fully equipped Parish Office for residents to
visit, to obtain information and to express concerns regarding things that
affect their immediate community. The parish Office is located in the
Pyramid Shopping Centre, and will be integrated with a Community
Support Unit, manned by Police Officers and City Council Youth Workers.
This is a major project, building on the North Bretton Week of Action last
summer. It is strongly supported by the City Council, the Police and Cross
Keys, and we firmly believe it will bring about a big improvement in youth
activity and the security situation of the immediate area.
We have initiated detailed discussions with Peterborough City Council with
a view to achieving upgrades to the Crofts Corner and Copeland Play
Centres, and alleviating parking difficulties in certain areas of the Parish.
Your Parish Council is working long hours, not secretly, but openly, to help
make Bretton a better place in which to live.
