How many of us loved to say “party
hearty” over the years! Unfortunately,
as we age, changes in our health may
make us feel like the party days are
few and far between.
But guess what? A party can be exactly
what you need! The health benefits

A Little Tender Loving Care
By Meghan Davis, Director of Lifestyle Enrichment
Everyone needs a little TLC and Capri
Communities is excited to roll out a new
signature program based on this concept. Capri’s
TLC Welcome Program is designed to give new
residents some tender loving care, but the program also
takes on another meaning: Teach, Learn and Connect. The
TLC Welcome Program is designed to assist new residents
in the welcoming process by teaching them about Capri
and the individual community, learning
about the resident, and connecting the
resident with other residents, staff and
resources.
The program is a result of resident
feedback and the growing attention
on the effects of loneliness in seniors.
Studies show emotional isolation is

high blood pressure.
“We want to create a small community and homelike feel
for all residents,” said Meghan Davis, Director of Lifestyle
Enrichment. “This new program demonstrates one way we
can combat the negative side effects of loneliness and build
more social connections among our residents.”
The Importance of Good
Posture
Your body posture can make a
big difference in your overall
health. Incorrect posture can
lead to mental and physical
fatigue, with symptoms such as
neck, shoulder, and back pain;
headaches; poor sleep; and
eye strain. Proper posture can
improve digestion and blood
circulation all while making
you feel younger and more
energetic. Here are some simple
tips you can follow to improve
your posture:
• Try to get regular exercise.
• While seated, sit tall with your
ribs lifted, shoulders up and
pulled back. Try to hold your
stomach muscles tight and have
feet flat on the floor. Avoid
crossing your legs or ankles.
• Do not stay seated for long
periods of time.
• Keep your head back and
chin up. Throughout the day,
you may notice that your head
creeps forward and is no longer
in position with your spine.
Whenever you notice your head
is in this unnatural position,
make an effort to straighten
your back and neck.

there’s a bee in my soup!”
The waiter replies, “Yes, sir. The fly has the day off.”
