CPF Alberta Board Nomination Process
As per Bylaw 5.3, b) & c), electing the President, Vice President and remaining positions on the Board of
Directors is done at the Annual General Meeting. Each year, we elect about half of the board, usually for a
two year term.
As per Policy 144, the Nominations Committee put out a call for nominees from the membership in the
Spring of this year. Policy 145 allows for Additional Nominations which must have been submitted to CPF
Alberta by July 30.
For a two-year term (2016-18), the following individuals have been nominated and agreed to let their
names stand for nomination. Brief comments and/or biography are also included.
Erin Quiring
I have lived in Airdrie for 6 years with my husband and 2 sons, ages 10 & 8. I have been involved with the
Airdrie chapter since its inception in 2012. I am currently the president of our chapter and am mentoring a
new director this year to take over as president soon.
In Airdrie our recent focus has been on advocacy for more core and elective classes for our French
Immersion students as well as for a district FI coordinator. We have had several meetings with trustees and
individuals at the divisional level.
I am starting my 6th school year working for the Rockyview school division as a Special Needs Assistant in
an elementary school.
In all free time, I like to ski and camp with my family.
Rhonda Stewart
Hello my name is Rhonda Stewart and I would like to put my name forward to be on the CPF Alberta Board.
I have been an active member of CPF Parkland ever since my oldest started in French Immersion
Kindergarten in 2007. I currently have 2 children in the French Immersion program at École Broxton Park
School in Spruce Grove. One is in grade nine and the other is in grade seven. I am a strong supporter of
second language learning for children. The benefits far surpass that of a single language learner, where
opportunities are more available for students that are immersed in a second language. I truly believe that
without the constant pushing from CPF Parkland the Parkland School Division would not have instituted the
use of the DELF exam to provide benchmarks for French Immersion learning.
I currently am a Program Coordinator for a seniors facility in Sturgeon County called West Country Hearth
where I program activities for the residents as well as coordinate volunteers. My experience with CPF and
its reliance on a strong volunteer base was an invaluable asset that I have been able to utilize in my current
position. The other asset is teamwork, without the solid team that is CPF Parkland we would never have
been the driving force we are for promoting French Second Language learning in the Parkland School
Division.
