Monsters
Monsters lurk in the shadows…
everyone knows that.
Stories about them leave us
terrified, cowering under
blankets, while others have us
leaping out in laughter to scare
friends.
But what do we really know
about monsters? Monsters come
in all forms, all shapes and all
sizes.
For the 29th annual Collins Writing
Contest, entrants are invited to
explore the subject of Monsters in
a short story.
The first, second and third place
winners in each category will
receive a cash prize. All winners,
including Honourable Mentions,
will receive a copy of the
anthology of the winning stories.
Contest Regulations
1. Authors must reside in the City or County
of Grande Prairie, Saddle Hills, or the MD
of Greenview to be eligible.
2. Authors may submit one entry per year.
3. Entries must be previously unpublished.
4. Stories must be typed and double
spaced with a minimum 12-point font.
Handwritten stories will not be
accepted.
5. The maximum length of a story is 2000
words (no minimum).
6. The author’s name, address, phone
number and word count must be
included on the entry form and stapled
to the front of the entry. The entrant’s
name MUST NOT appear anywhere on
the story itself.
7. Authors should save a digital copy of
their story. Winning entries must be
submitted in digital format (i.e., Microsoft
Word or other word processor) to be
published in the anthology.
Winners will be notified by
telephone starting Friday, March 24,
2017.
The Awards afternoon will be
Saturday, June 10, 2017
from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm in
the Rotary Community Room.
