helping the unemployed
• But high poverty rates continued to be a problem
• JFK built up NASA after the Soviets beat us at
putting a man in space
• We sent a crew to moon’s surface in 1969, we
went 5 more times
• Soviets never did…

• Kennedy created the Peace Corp to help
developing nations in Africa, Latin America, & Asia
• You can still volunteer your time to this org. today,
tours of duty are approx. 1-2 years
• The Alliance for Progress was designed to give aid
($) and assistance to our neighbors in the Western
Hemisphere…
• To keep them from going commie like Cuba
KENNEDY
ASSASSINATED
• On November 22, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald shot him
while in a parade in Dallas
• Dallas was seen as a hotbed of racial hatred and
anger towards liberals in general
• As Oswald was being transported to a jail cell, Jack
Ruby pushed through police and shot Oswald
• With Ruby’s Mafia connections, his actions have
fueled conspiracy theories for 50 years…
