Grace Lutheran Council Minutes
March 8, 2015
Members Present: Tina Bauermeister, Monte Burrell, Erica French, Elaine Greer, Carla Jones, Pastor
Martin, Willia Mueske, Eric Winger, Gary Zeman and Manny Zempel
Members Absent: Nate Gruys, Leslie Pavelko, John Salewske,
Call to Order: Willia called the meeting to order.
Devotions: Pastor Martin opened with a story and devotion.
Minutes: Minutes of the last meetings were reviewed, Gary made a motion to accept and approve the
minutes. Tina seconded the motion and the motion carried.
Financial Report: The monthly and year to date financial report was reviewed. Manny made a motion to
accept and approve the January Treasurer’s Report. Eric seconded and the motion carried.
Family & Education Ministry:
The “good-bi” for Eli will be at the Connect Worship @ Lutheran Lakeside Camp on Wednesday, March
25, 2015. Tina will get a going away gift and Erica will lead at this event. Sunday, April 26th will be Eli’s
last Sunday with us and we will give him a sendoff in church.
Worship & Music Ministry:
The thank you for Beverly Bergquist for her lifetime of church service and service here at Grace will be
Easter Sunday, April 5. Willia will get a gift and say something special to her between services. Easter
Service will be 8am and 10am. We will have tea and homemade goodies for this event between
services. There will be a Good Friday service including singing from the choir and spoken parts by
confirmation students.
Service & Outreach Ministry:
Air Conditioner/Heater- We will be getting new bids on this project. Once received, we will put it in the
newsletter and get a “call out” to the congregation while in church. Motion was made by Erica to allow
Willia to have a discussion with the congregation on this topic. Monte seconded the motion and the
motion carried.
Gary will take a look at the drainage issue on the east side of the church that ends up with a water
puddle at the back door entrance.
Eric had an update on the columbarium—He will contact Iowa One Call regarding the utilities “before we
dig”. We will be centering it under the cross. We will do the whole project vs. half of it at this time.
Gary informed the council that he is in his 3rd year of Lay School of Theology. This year his project is to
have chapel service at the Lutheran Lakeside Camp and he hopes to help out with our church in the
future.
Council Host Schedule: Mar. 15th -Manny, Mar 22nd –Eric, Mar. 29th-Willia, April 5th-All Council
Members that are available-7am- Willia and Elaine-Set-up 8:30am. April 12th-Erica
Next Meeting: April 12, 2015
Elaine moved to adjourn. Erica seconded. Motion carried. Pastor Martin and Council members closed
with the Lord’s Prayer.
