Introduction to Coding
Product Design with Coding &
Crafting (Girls Only)
Each morning the girls will be tasked with designing a new
product and then crafting a prototype. In the afternoon, after
completion of the morning step, they will create a computer
program to either automate the design phase of the product, or
complete the product offering (for example, they can create a
game that is related to the product). The Product Design Using
Coding And Craft class will have invited guests on our last day.
The girls will meet with Women working in the Tech Industry,
and these guest speakers will share their personal stories
to empower the young students. It is Code for fun’s way of
building entrepreneurship and design skills with young creative
women. Materials fee of $25 payable to instructor at first

Using MIT App Inventor to Create
Android Apps
MIT App Inventor allows you to create mobile apps that run
on Android phones and tablets using a visual programming
language created by Google. Traditionally to build an Android
app, you have to code in Java. With App Inventor, you can
design the user interface and implement the program just
by dragging and dropping elements and connecting them
together like a puzzle! You will learn the basics of event-driven
programming and build apps that uses the accelerometer,
touch input, text-to-speech, location sensor, orientation sensor,
and more. It is recommended that you bring your own Android
device, although we will provide you with one in if you don’t
have it.

This program introduces kids to the magical world of creating
their own webpages using HTML. They will be linking to other
sites; learning how to add images; collecting information from
visitors. They will also be introduced to JavaScript programming
to make their website pages more interactive. At the end of
the program your child will have a website of their own design.
Children must be computer literate (master typing and use
of the mouse and trackpad is a must).Children’s creativity is
endless. If kids engage in design from an early age, they will be
able to expand their creative potential. They are able to imagine
things that go beyond expectations. Learning HTML is a fun
way for kids to express themselves.

Adventure Riding Camp
Two Wheelers Club
Can’t quite shake those training wheels? Do you love your
Skuut but look enviously at bicyclists? Are your training wheels
in storage but you haven’t mastered riding without them? Two
Wheelers Club is for you. Two Wheelers Club is designed to
teach 5 to 8 year olds how to ride a bike. Using safe, trafficfree environments and a low kid-to-staff ratio, we work with
aspiring young riders on developing the balance, coordination
and confidence needed to ride independently. Please note that
Two Wheelers Club is for Novice and Beginner cyclists only.

Wheel Kids Adventure Riding Camp is designed to get kids
excited about cycling and teach new skills to make them better
and safer cyclists. We balance programmed and free time to
keep kids challenged while also letting them discover their own
interests and passions. Our rides aren’t too hard or too long, but
we do try to provide a challenge for our participants - perhaps
it’s getting to the top of a particular climb, riding a little faster
or a little slower or on a different surface, overcoming fears, or
just thinking about things in a new way. Please note that only
Advanced Beginner and Intermediate cyclists are eligible for this
camp. Extended Hours available.

Sailing at Vasona- Youth
Vasona Boating
Come out to beautiful Vasona Lake and take a sailing course
on one of our Catalina Capri sailboats. You'll enjoy four hours
on the water (two hours each day), and receive plenty of
hands-on training, including open water sailing, docking, sailing
terminology, boating safety, and much more. In this course, we
use Catalina Capri 14-foot sailboats, which are very responsive,
stable, and easy to sail. It's always best to learn the basics of
sailing on a boat like the Capri because it is not intimidating
and gives students a much better feel for the wind than a larger
sailboat.
