(1) Dawn l-ordinamenti jistgħu jissejħu bħala l-Ordinamenti tal-2010 skont ir-Regolamenti Āenerali tal-2008 għar-Rikonoxximenti Universitarji ta’ wara l-Ewwel Grad għall-grad ta’ Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies taħt il-patroëinju tal-Fakultà tal-Arti. (2) F’dawn l-ordinamenti, kemm-il darba r-rabta tal-kliem ma teħtieāx mod ieħor – “il-Bord” tfisser il-Bord tal-Fakultà tal-Arti; “il-Grad” tfisser il-grad ta’ Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies; “il-Kors” tfisser il-programm ta’ studju li jwassal għall-grad ta’ Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies; “il-Postgraduate Diploma” tfisser il-Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitaller Studies; u “ir-Regolamenti Prinëipali” tfisser ir-Regolamenti Āenerali tal-2008 għarRikonoxximenti Universitarji ta’ wara l-Ewwel Grad. B 18 L-Applikabilità 2. Dawn l-ordinamenti għandhom japplikaw għall-korsijiet li jibdew f’Ottubru 2009 jew wara. Ir-RekwiŜiti għad-Dħul 3. (1) Il-Kors jkun miftuħ għall-applikanti li għandhom grad tal-ewwel ëiklu miksub tal-anqas fit-Tieni Klassi bl-Unuri jew b’Kategorija II. (2) L-applikanti jistgħu jkunu meħtieāa li joqogħdu għall-intervista qabel ma jiāu aëëettati għall-Kors biex jiāi stabbilit jekk għandhomx profiëjenza suffiëjenti f’waħda minn dawn il-lingwi u biex ikunu jistgħu japprofittaw mill-Kors: il-FranëiŜ, il-ĀermaniŜ, it-Taljan jew l-Ispanjol. It-Tul tal-Kors 4. Il-Kors għandu jinfirex fuq tliet semestri ta’ studju fuq baŜi full-time jew l-ekwivalenti fi studju fuq baŜi part-time. Il-Programm ta’ Studju 5. Il-programm ta’ studju għandu jikkonsisti minn taqsimiet studju li għalihom hemm assenjati total ta’ 90 kredtu, li minnhom 60 kredtu huma assenjati għal taqsimiet studju mgħallma u 30 kredtu huma assenjati għat-taqsima studju taddissertazzjoni. 6. L-istudenti li jiksbu s-60 kredtu assenjati għat-taqsimiet studju mgħallma b’marka medja ta’ mill-anqas 50% u ma jkomplux il-Kors, jew wara li komplew ma jkunux spiëëaw b’suëëess id-dissertazzjoni, jkunu eliāibbli għall-għoti talPostgraduate Diploma. 7. Il-programm ta’ studju għandu jkun ippubblikat wara l-approvazzjoni tasSenat, normalment mhux anqas minn tmien xhur qabel il-bidu tal-Kors. Il-Valutazzjoni u l-Progress 8. (1) Il-valutazzjoni ta’ kull taqsima studju mgħallma għandha tkun kompluta sal-aħħar tas-semestru li fih ikun sar it-tagħlim tat-taqsima studju. (2) Dawk l-istudenti li f’xi sena akkademika jeħlu fil-valutazzjoni ta’ mhux aktar minn 20 kredtu, jekk ikunu qegħdin isegwu l-Kors full-time, jew mhux aktar minn 10 kredti jekk ikunu qegħdin isegwu l-Kors part-time, jingħataw lopportunità li joqogħdu għall-valutazzjoni mill-ādid fit-taqsimiet studju li weħlu minnhom fis-sessjoni tal-eŜamijiet supplimentari ta’ Settembru. B 19 (3) L-istudenti li jeħlu f’aktar mill-għadd ta’ kredti permess skont ilparagrafu (2) ta’ dan l-ordinament, jew l-istudenti li wara valutazzjoni mill-ādid ma jiksbux il-kredti għal xi taqsima studju, jkunu meqjusa li weħlu mill-Kors. Id-Dissertazzjoni 9. (1) L-istudenti huma meħtieāa jippreŜentaw dissertazzjoni individwali ta’ madwar 25,000 kelma skont il-linji gwida maħruāin mill-Bord. (2) Ix-xogħol fuq id-dissertazzjoni għandu jsir waqt it-tielet semestru talKors. Kull student ikun assenjat superviŜur li għandu jipprovdi gwida u pariri fuq baŜi regolari waqt il-perijodu ta’ studju. (3) It-titlu provviŜorju tad-dissertazzjoni u l-proposta ta’ riëerka dettaljata għandhom ikunu mressqa għall-approvazzjoni tal-Bord mhux aktar tard minn sitt āimgħat qabel it-tmiem tat-tieni semestru. 10. (1) L-istudenti jkunu meħtieāa li jŜommu kuntatt regolari mas-superviŜur tagħhom. (2) Is-superviŜuri għandhom jibgħatu lill-Bord rapporti dwar il-progress ta’ kull student taħt is-superviŜjoni tagħhom fit-tmiem ta’ kull semestru ta’ studji, kemm jekk l-istudent ikun qiegħed isegwi l-Kors fuq baŜi full-time u kemm jekk part-time. Dawn ir-rapporti jistgħu jinkludu rakkomandazzjoni li jew (a) jittawwal il-perijodu ta’ studju biex l-istudent ikun jista’ jtemm id-dissertazzjoni; jew (b) jintemmu l-istudji qabel il-waqt jekk is-superviŜur jidhirlu li dan huwa xieraq fiëëirkostanzi, sakemm li: (i) l-estensjoni tal-perijodu ta’ studju msemmija f’(a) tkun skont ilprovvedimenti tar-Regolamenti Prinëipali; u (ii) il-Bord ma jistax itemm l-istudji qabel il-waqt skont (b) jekk qabel ma jkunx ta opportunità lill-istudent li jiddefendi l-kaŜ tiegħu. Il-Klassifikazzjoni tar-Rikonoxximenti 11. Il-Marka Medja Finali MwieŜna għall-iskop tal-klassifikazzjoni talPostgraduate Diploma u tal-Grad għandha tkun ibbaŜata fuq ir-riŜultati miksuba filkomponenti kollha tal-programm ta’ studju, bil-kredti kollha jingħataw piŜ indaqs. Il-Provvedimenti Speëjali għall-Korsijiet fuq BaŜi Part-Time 12. Il-provvedimenti tal-ordinamenti preëedenti għandhom japplikaw mutatis mutandis għall-korsijiet li jsiru fuq baŜi part-time, u suāāett għal dawk ittibdiliet li jistgħu raāonevolment jitqiesu mill-Bord bħala neëessarji minħabba nnatura part-time tal-Kors. B 20 L.N. 5 of 2010 EDUCATION ACT (CAP. 327) Bye-Laws of 2010 in terms of the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008 for the Degree of Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred upon him by articles 74 (5) and 75 (6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following bye-laws made by the Board of the Faculty of Arts in virtue of the powers conferred upon it by article 81 (1) of the said Act and which have been approved by the Senate of the University of Malta as required by article 81 (2) of the said Act: Citation and Interpretation 1. (1) These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2010 in terms of the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008 for the degree of Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts. (2) In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires "the Board" means the Board of the Faculty of Arts; "the Course" means the programme of study leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies; "the Degree" means the degree of Master of Arts in Hospitaller Studies; “the Postgraduate Diploma” means the Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitaller Studies; and "the Principal Regulations" means the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2008. Applicability 2. These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in October 2009 or later. B 21 Requirements for Admission 3. (1) The Course shall be open to applicants in possession of a first cycle degree obtained with at least Second Class Honours or Category II. (2) Applicants may be required to sit for an interview before being accepted for the Course to establish whether they have sufficient proficiency in one of the following languages to be able to profit from the Course: French, Italian, Spanish, or German. Course Duration 4. The Course shall extend over three semesters of full-time study or the equivalent in part-time study. Programme of Study 5. The programme of study shall comprise study-units to which a total of 90 credits are assigned, of which 60 credits are assigned to taught study-units and 30 credits assigned to a dissertation study-unit. 6. Students who obtain the 60 credits assigned to the taught study-units with an average mark of at least 50% and do not proceed with the Course, or having proceeded do not successfully complete the dissertation, shall be eligible for the award of a Postgraduate Diploma. 7. The programme of study shall be published after approval by Senate, normally not less than eight months prior to the commencement of the Course. Assessment and Progress 8. (1) The assessment of each taught study-unit shall be completed by the end of the semester in which the teaching of the study-unit is held. (2) Students who in any academic year fail in the assessment of not more than 20 credits, if following the Course full-time, or not more than 10 credits if following the Course part-time, shall be given the opportunity to re-sit the failed study-units during the September supplementary examination session. (3) Students who fail more than the number of credits permitted under paragraph (2) of this bye-law or students who after re-assessment fail to obtain credit for any study-unit, shall be deemed to have failed the Course. B 22 Dissertation 9. (1) Students shall be required to submit an individual dissertation of approximately 25,000 words in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Board. (2) Work on the dissertation shall be undertaken during the third semester of the Course. Each student shall be assigned a supervisor who shall provide guidance and advice on a regular basis during the period of study. (3) A provisional title of the dissertation and a detailed research proposal shall be submitted to the Board for approval not later than six weeks before the end of the second semester. 10. (1) Students shall be required to have regular contact with their supervisor. (2) Supervisors shall submit to the Board progress reports for each student under their supervision at the end of each semester of studies, whether the student is following the Course on a full-time or a part-time basis. Such reports may include a recommendation to either (a) extend the period of study in order to enable the student to complete the dissertation; or (b) terminate studies prematurely if the supervisor deems this to be proper in the circumstances, provided that: (i) the extension of the study period referred to in (a) shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Principal Regulations; and (ii) the Board may not terminate studies prematurely according to (b) until it has first given the student a chance to be heard. Classification of the Awards 11. The Final Weighted Average Mark for the purpose of the classification of the Postgraduate Diploma and of the Degree shall be based on the results obtained in all the components of the programme of study, all credits being weighted equally. Special Provisions for Part-Time Courses 12.
