Fundraising, outreach and
animal placement made
easier with FreeColorPrinters

Background
Founded in 1969, Eau Claire County Humane Association (ECCHA) provides shelter and
compassionate care for over 2,500 abused, neglected, lost and unwanted animals each year.
Its goals are to adopt animals into loving, responsible homes, educate the public about the
importance of spaying and neutering to control pet overpopulation and enforce animal protection
laws. A trained, dedicated staff operates the shelter. With the help of community volunteers, they
provide food, water, exercise and a clean environment for each animal. Funded solely by donations,
the ECCHA is always looking for ways to increase animal placement rates, meet fundraising goals
and expand outreach efforts—all without increasing costs
Challenge
Given the volume of printing needed to support daily operations at the shelter,
outsourced vendors often made printing in color prohibitively expensive, time consuming and
inconvenient. As a result, adoption paperwork, flyers, brochures, and posters were routinely
printed in black and white.
“With the FreeColorPrinters
program, we can print just
about everything in-house
and in color.”

Executive Director
ECCHA
Solution
As a Xerox FreeColorPrinters member, the ECCHA is able to print more detailed color pictures of
animals, making them more attractive to potential owners and helping other owners more easily
identify lost pets. Wider distribution of vivid color flyers to potential adopters brings more people
into the shelter, increasing the number of adoptions. Lauren Evans, Executive Director says, “With
the FreeColorPrinters program, we can print just about everything in-house and in color, making
it very convenient and cost effective, especially for the small, customized print runs we need.”
