A N ACT MAKING A CERTAIN CORRECTIVE CHANGE IN THE
L A W A U T H O R I Z I N G MASSACHUSETTS U N I V E R S A L I S T C O N V E N T I O N TO M E R G E W I T H U N I T A R I A N U N I V E R S A L I S T A S S O CIATION.
Be it enacted, etc., as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 205 of the acts of 1963 is hereby amended by
striking out section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following section:— Section 1. Massachusetts Universalist Convention, a corporation established by chapter sixty-six of the acts of eighteen hundred and
fifty-nine, is hereby authorized to merge with Unitarian Universalist
Association, a corporation established by virtue of chapter one hundred
and forty-eight of the acts of nineteen hundred and sixty and by virtue
of chapter eight hundred and twenty-seven of the acts of nineteen
hundred and sixty of the State of New York.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect as of April first, nineteen hundred and sixty-three. Any action taken by Massachusetts Universalist
Convention or Unitarian Universalist Association under the provisions
of chapter two hundred and five of the acts of nineteen hundred and
sixty-three, shall be as valid and effective as though this act had been
in full force and effect at the time such action was taken.

A N ACT PROVIDING FOR A FOURTH ASSISTANT CLERK FOR
T H E C E N T R A L D I S T R I C T COURT O F W O R C E S T E R .
Be it enacted, etc., as follows:
Section 10 of chapter 218 of the General Laws is hereby amended by
inserting after the second paragraph the following paragraph: —
A fourth assistant clerk with salary payable by the county may be
appointed, subject to the approval of the county commissioners, in the
central district court of Worcester.

A N ACT INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WHICH MAY
BE BORROWED BY THE TOWN OF MARSHFIELD AND THE
COUNTY OF PLYMOUTH FOR THE REPAIR OR RECONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN TIDE GATES IN THE GREEN HARBOR
DISTRICT OF THE TOWN OF MARSHFIELD.
Be it enacted, etc., as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 2 of chapter 464 of the acts of 1962 is hereby
amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof
the following sentence: — In order to carry out the project authorized
by this act and to enable the town of Marshfield to carry out its obligations and to pay its share of the cost of said project to the state treasurer,

the town of Marshfield may borrow such sums as may be necessary,
not exceeding thirty-three thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars,
and may issue bonds or notes therefor which shall bear on their face the
words Marshfield Tide Gate Loan, Act of 1962.
SECTION 2. Section 3 of said chapter 464 is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following
sentence: — In order to carry out the project authorized by this act
and to enable the county of Plymouth to carry out its obligations and
to pay its share of the cost of said project to the state treasurer, the
county treasurer of Plymouth county, with the approval of the county
commissioners, may borrow on the credit of the county such sums as
may be necessary, not exceeding thirty-three thousand seven hundred
and fifty dollars, and may issue bonds or notes therefor which shall bear
on their face the words Plymouth County Shore Protection Loan, Act
of 1962.

A N ACT RELATIVE TO THE PKACTICE OF MEDICINE BY

ASSISTANTS I N
MEDICINE.
Be it enacted, etc., as follows:
Section 9A of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the
Tercentenary Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 18
to 21, the words ", or the use of any instruments whatsoever in the
treatment of any cases, except instruments normally used for the purpose of diagnosis and then for such purpose only", — so that the third
sentence will read as follows: — Registration under this section shall
not authorize the signing of certificates of births or deaths; nor shall it
authorize the prescribing or dispensing of any narcotic drug as denned
in section one hundred and ninety-seven of chapter ninety-four.

AN ACT AUTHORIZING
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF
M I D D L E S E X COUNTY TO CONSTRUCT N E W B U I L D I N G S FOR T H E
COURTS AND T H E VARIOUS D E P A R T M E N T S OF T H E COUNTY.
Be it enacted, etc., as follows:
SECTION 1. For the purpose of providing new and adequate accommodations and facilities for the superior court and various county departments, the county commissioners of Middlesex county are hereby
authorized to construct on land of said county, which land is bounded
by Spring, Second, Thorndike and Third streets in the city of Cambridge, and on which is located the old jail and house of correction, an
eighteen story building to be known as the superior court and county
office building, and shall furnish and equip the same. Said building
shall contain court rooms and facilities for the superior court, shall
house the offices of the clerk of the courts, the district attorney, the
probation office, the maintenance department, the county engineers,
the county treasurer and the county commissioners, and shall contain
the law library and a jail and house of correction with quarters for male
and female prisoners.
