Multiplying and Dividing Fractions
Objective:
- To multiply and divide fractions.
Reciprocal - when you flip the numerator and denominator of a
fraction.
**Dividing by a fraction is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal
of the fraction.
Dividing Fractions
1. Change problem to multiplication by
taking the reciprocal of the fraction you
are dividing by.
2. Multiply the fractions.
3. Simplify!
Divide the fractions.
Dividing Mixed Numbers
1. Write the mixed numbers as improper fractions.
2. Change problem to multiplication by taking the
reciprocal of the fraction you are dividing by.
3. Multiply the fractions.
4. Make improper fraction a mixed number and simplify!
Divide the fractions.
