Freez software/Webcam announcements: (C36 - Career Center and virtual session) Do you want to
communicate with students in other ways than just the typed word? Freez is a free software that provides video
capture of your computer desktop. It records both the activity on the desktop and audio. Using a web cam is
another way to use live video to create a sense of community and add a personal touch to your class. This session
will demonstrate how easy it is to use both and provide you with ideas for utilizing these in the online classroom.
Presented by Patrick Lepper, Instructor at John Wood Community College and Stephanie Phillips, Assistant Director
of Instructional Support & Distance Learning at John Wood Community College
MyITLab: (AK30 – Komar Hall) MyITLab offers challenges and a steep learning curve. Observations on: setting up
the lab environment for exercises, lab exercises in all three modes (virtual lab, uploaded files, and the GO! text),
transferring grades to TriState, help for both instructor and student (including key stroke solutions, show-me,
hints, section orientation), grades for both students and instructor, setting up an exam in the sandbox and
transferring to other sections will be discussed. If there is time, student reactions, demographics, and preferences
will also be addressed. Presented by Wayne Goddard, Adjunct Instructor
MyLabs (AK33 – Komar) Please join your colleagues for an hour of learning about Pearson MyLabs and how they
can help your students earn a better grade. These labs are free and packaged with textbooks in all of the MACC
bookstores. It’s easy for students to register since all materials are located inside their companion website. Laurie
Panu, from Pearson, will be here to share how 9 million students nationwide have benefitted from the use of these
tools. No more searching the web for resources to use in class or online. Pearson provides a compliment to
your teaching with homework exercises, tutorials, videos, simulations and other tools for student
success. Presented by Laurie Panu, Pearson

we will discuss apps and hardware that are shaping the iPad into the new mobile computing device. We aren't

very close to being able to utilize the PC as simply a supplement to the iPad. Presented by Carl Read, Instructional
Technology Specialist
