Hello! My name is Eleanor Jones and I am a Year

Hello! My name is Eleanor Jones and I am a Year 13 student
studying A-levels in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Further
Maths. My link to the Ogden Trust was founded by being
awarded the School’s Young Physicist of the Year and this has
inspired me to apply for physics at university and perhaps follow
a career involving research; although, at the moment, it feels a
long way off! I am particularly interested in quantum physics and
the way the behaviour of fundamental particles defines the
behaviour of the universe.
French is another passion of mine; both the language and the
culture. I have visited France many times on holidays and most
recently, I undertook work as an au pair, working with five young
children in an exclusively French environment. This was an
amazing experience!
Alongside my studies at school, I am also a keen musician holding a place as Principle Oboist of the
County Youth Orchestra. By the end of this year, I will have achieved grade 8 on both oboe and
piano, whilst continuing to teach myself the saxophone. Hockey, again, is another activity providing
relaxation and fun. I play with my club on a weekly basis and have achieved honours playing for the
Cheshire U21 team. I was recently selected to join the North of England U21 squad which has really
excited me.
Hockey and music provide the relaxation to the stress of exams and school work. I am very much
looking forward to the future and the end of A-levels so that I can begin the next stage of my life at
university. This year is a stress filled year with the pressure to perform well in the final exams;
however I am definitely one to have a lot of fun along the way!
