Autumn Poetry
A rough, blood-red fox
trotted through the yellow, red and orange
leaves,
glittering as they fell to the ground.
He looked at the sky,
watching a flock of birds
fly, like a rain of arrows.
Blackberries twinkled in the sun.
Something told the fox
it was time to go.
He said goodbye to summer
and ran towards autumn.
Charlotte Mifflin
Autumn
Fungi grows along my trunk,
And all my friends around me.
Squirrels scurry round my branches,
Badgers by my roots.
Groups of birds leave their nests,
Positioned high up in my leaves,
And fly off to find,
Another hotter place.
My leaves bright yellow, gold and crimson,
Flash and glimmer in the sunlight.
But, like a firework, I gradually
Lose my best possessions,
And we let them sift down and down,
Whilst spiders spin their silky jumpers,
In my moss.
Male deer rut,
Fighting for their flock.
Geese fly out of nearby lakes,
And hover high above the ground.
Swifts print broad arrows
On the leaden sky,
While swans join their friends
Up in the air.
Starlings make their pictures,
And we horse-chestnuts drop our conkers,
All like jewels in satin cases.
Wasps are
Tiger souls on elfin wings.
We shiver in the winter winds.
It starts to snow.

Dancing raindrops
Dancing raindrops
sparkle on a spiders web
like the twinkle of stars
in the night sky.
Frost- crisp crimson leaves
hover above me.
A magic fox disappears
into faint air –
snap, crunch!
He is gone.
Fern Edwards
Autumn
A touch of cold in the
autumn day –
frosted spiders’ webs
twinkle gracefully in
the sun.
Flying crimson leaves
fall like rain
and crackle underfoot
in the proletariat of
mud.
Arlo Phelan
Frosted , crimson
leaves
Shimmer in the
moonlight.
They fall shivering ,
Like twinkling stars
Blown into
whirlpools.
A fox,
Shrunk, bony -ribbed,
Searches for shelter.
Then disappears
silently
Into the mist.

An Autumn Day
Silent oaks wave in the valley,
Golden leaves dance in the air,
Crunch as the bushy-tailed fox
Strolls under a moonlit sky.
Like a carpet , sweet plums cover
the floor.
Swiftly , brown sparrows flutter
In the autumn night
Crystallised spiders’ webs,
As beautiful as ballerinas,
Tremble against a misty sky.
An owl hoots in the distance.

Autumn
Crimson leaves in Autumn
are pushed by the wind,
backwards and forwards.
Dazzling leaves hang over the
footpath.
A touch of wind and
they float towards the ground.
Matthew Halliday
Autumn’s colours
Orange, red, crimson and goldthese are the colours of
Autumn.
A blush of leaves
tumbles from heaven,
glimmers in the sunlight,
and lies cold in the mud.
Oliver Stace
Autumn Ends
Sweet nuts hang from the tree tops,
each shining like a jewel
in a satin case.
Crimson leaves blush,
rustling in the breeze.
Suddenly, wet fluffy mist appears,
dazzling in the autumn air,
like a polar bears fur.
Crystal clear raindrops
swoop down on delicate spiders’ webs.
Finally, twinkling snow falls,
with faint dry sound,
into my ice-cold hand.

Autumn
Dazzling spiders’ webs shine
in the sunlight,
frost sparkling like glitter.
In the woodland,
red ,yellow and orange leaves crunch
crispy under the squirrels feet,
like fairies with damaged wings.
Polished conkers
burst from spiky cases as they fall.
Sweet smelling apples and pears
scatter,
like pebbles in the sand.
In the distance,
herds of deer fight for power.

Animals in Autumn
A touch of cold on an autumn morning,
crimson squirrels jump, like acrobats,
from tree to tree.
Foxes leap through frost-crisped leaves,
like dogs that chase their tails.
Crystallised leaves sparkle in the sunset
like the steps of passing ghosts.
Robins’ breasts glow like flames, darting among the weary leaves.
Ice-cold frost twinkles on cobwebs,
and an owl hoots
in the grey night sky.
Beth Fenwick
Crimson leaves
Autumn winds blow hard,
silently releasing the leaves.
They float, as light as feathers,
towards the ground.
They spin in the air
like whirlpools on the floor.
They fly above the house,
like a flock of birds.
Crispy, crimson leaves fall
with all the others
and settle on the earth.
Crackling leaves crunch
under walking footsteps.
Chloe Gunn
Crimson leaves
Crimson leaves hang
from the great oak tree.
They sing as they sparkle
in the Autumn sun.
Nothing happens
until a gust of wind comes
and blows them all away .
But one is left alone on top
of a branch.
Then it too flutters away
in the Autumn breeze.
Findlay Stewart
Trees hide in the Autumn mist.
A golden leaf lies on the floor,
crystallised in the cold air.
A cluster of blackened berries
hangs from a branch.
Starlings hover over the sky,
like arrows on a battlefield,
and a fox slinks past in the night.

Autumn Days
Lustre-gloss berries hang on
russet twigs, like polished jewels.
Golden leaves dance through
the breezy air,
like delicate ballerinas,
and silently sift to the ground.
Fire–touched squirrels
scuttle up trees,
linger in frost-crisped leaves.
Crystalized cobwebs hang,
sparkling on a sunlit wall.
Jaydn Brighty
Autumn days
Crimson-blush squirrels
dart up the tree trunks,
hiding among russet branches,
which silently shake and bend.
One by one,
golden maple leaves
flutter down,
gathering exhausted on the
crackling ground.

Animals in Autumn
Foxes looking for an
autumn snack in gold and
yellow leaves.
The crimson red squirrel
jumps among frosted
trees.
The owl looks red eyed at
the moon.
Swans dance in the cold
water as they dive down.
Joe Palmer
Autumn
Mist hangs like a scarf
around the glowing wood.
An owl hoots as it passes
swaying trees.
Leaves, frost-crisped ,
silently sift down from the
branches.
A dreaded hawk hovers
above the hard ground
and a ruddy fox lies
under a starlit sky.
Lauren Farmer
Here ComesWinter
Maple and oak leaves,
Sparkling with gold,
Watch shivering people,
Still and cold.
Gold turns to brown,
Crystallised leaves float round and round.
Spinning, they watch
The beautiful white swans
Gliding below.
Mollie Griffiths
It’s Autumn Again!
As I walked abroad
I saw how the boughs became bare
and the silhouette of the naked oak
stood proud against the leadened sky.
Slowly, the cold leaves freeze in silence.
Like a soft, white blanket, frost twinkles
at the birds whizzing across the cloudy sky.
Raindrops hang heavily on spiders’ webs,
like pearls on elastic.
Oliver Llewellyn
Burnished leaves sift silently down
in the arctic air.
Crystallised cobwebs stand still,
like ice sculptures
sparkling in the moonlight.
Squirrels run up bare trees.
Deer dance through glamorous leaves;
blackbirds glide beautifully across the
sky.
The shrunken sun has said
goodbye to summer.
Olivia-Anne Anstee
Like broad arrows , birds
flutter
across the Autumn sky.
Rich golden leaves
glitter in my eyes.
A silky sugared cobweb
waves
its dew-dropped fingers,
as frost-crisp leaves gently
twirl
in the moonlight.

Listen …
You can hear the faint sound
Of red fox
Crunch across exhausted crimson
Leaves,
Crystallised by frost in the
Autumn night.
Glistening cobwebs hang from
Bushes,
Like diamonds in the moonlight ,
Nature’s Christmas lights.
Eloise Jefferies
An autumn day
Ice shimmers on the ground.
Spiders knit pearl necklaces into cobwebs.
Crystallised leaves hang from a high branch,
Ready to fall.
Crispy leaves crunch
Under children’s feet
And scatter in the wind.
Oliver Cheshire
Autumn
The mist unravels over
the gloomily lit valley,
hiding the trees in shame.
The morning breeze plucks
golden and crimson leaves
from the huge chestnut,
revealing birds on twisted
twigs.
Cobwebs sag with crystal
raindrops,
starlings fly, gliding away,
Autumn in their cry.
Harry Abrahamson
Autumn leaves
There came a day,
an Autumn breeze,
a crimson tree came alive.
Red leaves swung on the
boughs.
One, frost-crisped,
fluttered down in the
moonlight.
Crystallised leaves lay under
the stars.
The bare branches cried
as their royal robes
became the proletariat of
mud.
Katie Wheeler
The frosts shield
the golden leaves in crystallised woolly coats.
It transforms the cobwebs
into icy mirrors
hanging in the silver sky.
These jewels drop from the trees.
Mia Bailey
Autumn comes
Leaves fall from golden
palaces
and race along the road.
Cobwebs, covered in
frosted gems,
sparkle like stars.
A spider shivers,
its web bouncing like a ball.
Autumn brings its wintery
breath,
forcing swallows to flit,
like a flash of lightning.
Tom Young
My magical forest
Leaves swing swiftly on the tree,
waiting to be unlocked.
Berries, red like roses,
droop in clusters of crimson.
Fungi, red, white, brown,
rot under stumps.
Squirrels forage for chestnuts so
brown.
The owl hoots quietly through the
fog,
and a swan flaps across the sky ,
touching the moon.
Maddison Hobbis
Autumn Leaves
Autumn leaves,
crimson, red, fiery yellow,
fall in the wind.
Mist sways over hills and
valleys.
Glittering cobwebs shine
in the moonlight.
Frost crisps the edges of
leaves
and a white swan floats
past.
