Re: Quotations are invited for the non- exclusive supply and delivery of Water Valves to various
locations for the City of Toronto’s Purchasing and Materials Management (Stores) Division
Closing Date: March 1, 2013, 12:00 O' Clock Noon (Local Time)
Please refer to the above Request for Quotation in your possession and be advised of the following
Questions and Answers:
Q1.
Item #13-800026064 has already been awarded on Contract 47017276. Should these items be
deleted from this RFQ?
A1.
Contract 47017276 was awarded as a result of RFQ 4102-12-0215 for the for the non-exclusive
supply and delivery of SERVICE SADDLES AND OTHER WATER SUPPLIES for the City of
Toronto's Purchasing and Materials Management (Stores) Division. This Contract/RFQ is to be
treated independently and separately from the current RFQ 4102-13-0037.
The City Stores believes that the materials that you have identified in Q1 above as already hard
tied to a previously awarded contract are a better fit for RFQ 4102-13-0037. City stores is
realigning the materials within each of the contracts so that like items are grouped together.
Please be reminded that these Contracts are non-exclusive contract and that we may put out the
materials for tender should City Stores determine that they are better suited to be grouped with
other materials.

Can you provide us with approved manufactures list and spec sheets.

All valves will be manufactured in conformance with AWWA specification C509–01.
Approved manufacturers for valves in sizes 100mm to 400 mm inclusive, shall be:

• Clow resilient seat gate valve F-6100
• AVK resilient seat gate valve Series 25
• Clow McAvity II–figure 20075

In lines 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, and 18 it states Complete in the description.
Please define Complete for us.
Does this mean complete with the corresponding restraints included? (2 mega lugs and 2 bolt and
gasket packs)

All valves will have inside screw non-rising spindle, complete with mechanical joint ends.
Valves specified to open right must be supplied with 'Toronto Operating Nut' and valves
specified to open left must be supplied with 50 mm square operating nut.

In the specification forms section of this particular RFQ# 4101-13-0026 section 4.0 Item Group
A: Common Requirements: Resilient Seated Gate Valves 4.4.1 Design Requirements
Subsection i) states: all bolt and nuts, including without limitation unprotected bolts and nuts used
in the bonnet and valve stem assembly, shall be 316 stainless steel as per latest edition of ASTM
F593.
In the specification forms section 5.0 Materials.
Section 5.5 states: “Stainless steel shall be type 304 or 316 conform to the latest edition of
ASTM F593.”
Are valve stem assemblies and bonnets approved with 304 stainless steel nuts and bolts?
Please verify.

As per section 5.0 Materials, specifically section 5.5, “Stainless steel shall be type 304 or 316
conform to the latest edition of ASTM F593.”
In addition, as per section 4.0 Item Group A: Common Requirements: Resilient Seated Gate
Valves, specifically section 4.4.1 Design Requirements Subsection i) 'all bolt and nuts, including
without limitation unprotected bolts and nuts used in the bonnet and valve stem assembly must be
316 stainless steel as per latest edition of ASTM F593'.
This means that 'all bolt and nuts, including without limitation unprotected bolts and nuts used in
the bonnet and valve stem assembly' must be 316 stainless steel as per latest edition of ASTM
F593'. This would include without limitation the bonnet nuts and bolts, the stuffing box nuts and
bolts, and wrench nut cap screw, where used, and any other unprotected bolts and nuts used in
the bonnet and valve stem assembly, require being type 316 stainless steel.
Where any other stainless steel parts are offered as part of the item requested other than 'all bolt
and nuts, including without limitation unprotected bolts and nuts used in the bonnet and valve
stem assembly', if any at all, then those must be either type 304 or type 316 stainless steel
conforming to the latest edition of ASTM F593.

All other terms and conditions remain the same.
Please attach this addendum to your Request for Quotation document and be governed accordingly.

Form:
