CREATING THE SANDBOX
Listed below are the items the Board of Education felt were important for the Boundary
Committee to use in guiding the process to a successful implementation:
• Mitchellville Elementary remodel completed for the 2014/15 school year
• Better educational opportunity for equitable student experience at each school
• Change will be difficult, but will need to happen to improve student opportunity
• Grade configuration remains the same (Kdg-5th, 6th, 7th-8th,9th-12th)
• A different grade configuration would need more BOE discussion
to provide direction
• Open enrollment students can attend as long as it does not negatively
impact resources
• Plan for future residential development in boundary creation
• Utilize all the District’s resources
• Student options are to be an administrative decision
9
