[ ] Gatorade Bottles
[ ] Poster Board labeled 1, 2, and 3

AMOEBA TAG
Directions

•
•
Divide students into lines of 3 or 4 and link arms.
Choose two students to play tag.
The chased one becomes safe by linking arms with another student on a line.
The student on the other end of the line must break off and is now being chased.
Start to add more chasing pairs to speed the game up.
Each group or large group is to have a calculator and a Gatorade bottle to represent the mental and physical aspects
of life.
Pass the calculator around the group (representing mental). When a student is holding the calculator ask:
“What is your biggest success and biggest struggle in this area?”
Pass the Gatorade bottle around (representing physical) and ask the same two questions.
“What is your biggest success and biggest struggle in this area?”
Following those questions, ask:
1. Does what you eat or how much you exercise have any effect on your body? Why or why not?
2. Do your grades or how well your mind works have anything to do with the amount of time you “exercise your
brain?”

• If you don’t protect your computer the chances of it catching a virus are very high. It will start to do crazy things and
eventually grind to a halt. This is called GIGO (Garbage in, Garbage out).
• The same is true of our bodies and minds, if we put garbage in, food, tv, lack of exercise, video games in excess
we start to see garbage coming out… bad grades, overweight, and poor health. If we put good things in we start to
see good results (show your picture/story examples).
• Feel free to have the leader share a story of the results of GIGO for them.
• Finish by reading Luke 2:52 – “And Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and men.”
• Relate the wisdom and stature to the mental and physical. Next week we will talk about the social and spiritual.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL GAME
Directions
• As you ask a trivia question each student must choose which option is the correct answer. The correct answer is in
italics below.
• The 3 options you give will correspond with your 1, 2, 3 posters.
• The students will stand in line according to the answer they chose.
• You give them an opportunity to jump from line to line by shouting “run around now.”
• All those who guess the answer correctly get to stay in, those who get it wrong sit out.
