Academic Advisors cannot tell you how the courses from exchange will transfer but you can use the information about your degree requirements to guide your decisions. After being accepted for an exchange, you will work with the exchange coordinator to determine your course availability.) In general incoming students may choose among all programs offered at FHWien (with minor restrictions). Students are free to select courses from different semesters (winter semester: semester 1, 3 and 5 / summer semester: semester 2, 4 and 6). In principal the degree programs are taught in German, but some courses are offered in English. In addition CIEM offers a variety of courses on a higher BA/lower MA level in the field of International Management. These courses are exclusively held in English and taught by international experts in the respective field. An English Course Guide with a complete list of courses offered in English language will be sent to the student after acceptance. Intensive Language Classes Available: Beginner and Advanced German. So as to participate in a German Language Course (6 ECTS) students need to take a German entry-level test, which will be sent to the partner universities prior to the exchange semester. Although we strive to keep these information sheets up to date as possible, information may be changed since our last update Student Information Information about health insurance: •EU/ EEA Countries or Switzerland - As long as you have a valid European Health Insurance Card you will be able to be covered through the healthcare system in Austria, just like in your home country •Non-EU/ EEA Students - for all other students you will need to show proof of health insurance as part of your residency permit application. This will require a letter from your insurance company stating you have coverage for your time there. Visa Information: Canadians wishing to study in Austria are required to obtain an entry permit (stays less than six months) or a residence permit (stays longer than six months). If you are not a Canadian citizen you should check the requirements on the Austrian Embassy's website. Can students work while on exchange to University of Applied Sciences?: Students who are in possession of a valid residence permit for study purposes (Aufenthaltsbewilligung "Studierender") are allowed to work to a limited extent and by taking into account the regulations of the Austrian Act Governing Employment of Foreign Nationals (Ausländerbeschäftigungsgesetz - AuslBG) which as a rule require a work permit. Please pay close attention to the following regulations since violation of these regulations may lead to severe fines and to imposition of a ban on residence! If you are in any doubt please make sure to enquire at the employment office (Arbeitsmarktservice/AMS) before taking up a job. Accommodation Information Accommodation has to be organized by the students themselves. They can either book a room in one of the students’ residences like ÖAD, ÖJAB, or check the private market for available rooms.
