Statement by Mesmer affiliating the Society of
Harmony of Grenoble with the Society of Harmony
of France. He stipulâtes that the affiliate
must adhéré to the régulations that he has
given to its représentative, and that these
régulations will serve as a binding agreement
between himself and the affiliate.

I, Antoine Mesmer, Doctor of Medicine, originator of the
discovery of animal magnetism, and founder and président for life
of the Societies of Harmony, considering that the propagation of
my doctrine is the purpose to which I have always set myself for
the good of humanity, and knowing particularly well the sentiments,
zeal, and virtues that inspire the various members who form the
Society of Harmony of Grenoble, established by Mr. Nicolas, the
King's doctor,
Do, according to the principles that constitute my doctrine,
confirm and affiliate the aforementioned society, under the name of
the Society of Harmony of Grenoble, in order that it may continue to
pattern itself on the Society of Harmony of France.
The said Society
of Grenoble shall deal, as it has until now, with the practice and
especially the development and advancement of my doctrine, scrupulously conforming to the régulations that I have signed and delivered
to the Chevalier of Landes, Captain in the Infantry Regiment of Brittany, and member and deputy of the aforementioned Society of Grenoble.
The said régulations shall be considered a binding agreement between
myself on the one hand and the Society of Harmony of Grenoble, by
agreement of its deputy, on the other hand.
May the said Society of Harmony of Grenoble always retain
and pass on to its future members that ardent desire to ease the man
who suffers, who alone can give the doctrine and the practice of
animal magnetism ail its potential energy, so that it produces the
most bénéficiai results.
