The first year class is randomly divided into three sections. All sections take the same courses.
However, the class schedules of each section vary. First year students will be automatically
assigned to a section and registered for classes prior to orientation.
Follow these steps to obtain your schedule:
 Log into the Samford Portal, found at portal.samford.edu
 Click on the Banner tab
 Click Student Financial Aid
 Click Registration
 Click Student Detail Schedule
 Select Fall 2016
Classes begin on Monday, August 15. As first class assignments become available, they will be
posted online. Students should continually check the First Class Assignments webpage to
make certain they are aware of their first week of assignments.

To obtain your first class assignments on the First Class Assignments webpage, you will need
to look up the course numbers from your schedule.
Although all first-year law students take the same classes, section numbers will determine
professors and required textbooks, which may vary from section to section. Students should
be careful and check section numbers closely when purchasing or ordering books.
Students should purchase textbooks in advance to have time to prepare first assignments.
Books can be purchased through the University Bookstore, bookstore.samford.edu, or
through external online resources such as Amazon.com.
