“You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” Limelight Theatre Company Summer 2010 Production Packet Cori Veverka, Director: [email protected] 630.740.5923 Michael Leali, Music Director: [email protected] 630.631.4655 Andrew Lia, Production Manager: [email protected] 630.901.2542 A Note From the Directors We are so excited to be working with you on “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” this summer. It is such a fun show with lots of opportunities for great character work, vocal powerhouses, quirky moments and emotional connections with the cast, crew and audience. Charles Schulz’s Peanuts creations are some of the most iconic characters ever imagined. We’ve got fifty years of source material to work with and we plan on playing with it every bit of it. We want the show to have the look and feel of the comic strip, only infused with a little Limelight Spirit. We only have a few weeks to get the show up and running, so get ready to work! We have great expectations for you this summer. Since rehearsals don’t officially start until June 21st, you have some assignments to help you get into a “Peanuts State of Mind”. Please fill out the worksheets in this packet and start working on your music and your lines. The schedule attached in this packet is still a little rough. The plan is to learn and work on music only the first week, block the second week, run and work the show the third week, start running big chunks in sequence the fourth week, and make the move to OEHS and polish the show the fifth and final week. We are going to block the show from start to finish, and we’ll use a lot of rehearsal time that week to focus on the big group numbers. This means that we are looking to each of you to take responsibility for some of your numbers. The more ideas and suggestions that you can bring to the table, the better! This show belongs to all of us as a team, and there is no team like the best team which is our team right here. In keeping with the LTC Summer 2010 Theme of “Bringing it all Back Home”, happiness is coming home again. Welcome back to all of you who have called Limelight your home in the past and welcome home to all of you who are just joining us now. Get ready for a whole lot of Happiness! Cori and Michael Rules and Expectations You are the older crowd. We shouldn’t have to lay out a bunch of rules to keep you in order. We expect you to stay dedicated, have a strong work ethic and maintain a willing attitude. Below are a few specific rules or expectations we will be wanting to see from you. 1. Treat others with respect. This includes directors, fellow actors and yourself. 2. If you’re on time you’re late. 3. preparation is your best friend. 4. Professionalism is key. 5. NO flip flops or sandals on stage. 6. clothing should be appropriate. 7. be clean...in all senses of the word. 8. have fun! Extra-Rehearsal Gatherings 1. “you’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” Animated Special we would like to get the cast together prior to June 21st to watch the animated version of the show. It would be ideal for this to happen on June 16, 17 or 18. We can order a pizza, play a few “get to know you” games and watch the film. It’s pretty short, but would be very beneficial to all of the cast members to see animated counterparts. We will do this around 5 or 6 PM. Location TBD. Please email michael with the dates in order of which works best for you and whether 5 or 6 would work better. 2. Suppertime with Cori! On June 28th, the first day we will be working with cori, we are planning on having a small get together so that you all can be introduced to her/welcome her back. Plan on either staying late that evening at Plank or heading over to the oswego Chili’s for some salsa and chips! We’ll keep this event fairly open. Stay tuned for more Info. Publicity and Giving Back 1. Project Linus IN an effort to give back to the community with our talents and time we are going to support “Project Linus.” IT ties in with our show quite well and it’s a great cause. Here is the Mission statement from the project linus website: “Project Linus is comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help us achieve our mission which is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer ‘blanketeers.’ “Together we have distributed over three million blankets to need since our inception in 1995.” children in Start making blankets and asking others to participate in this endeavor. We will be having drop points for the blankets announced in the july. check out the website for more information: www.projectlinus.org. 2. Peanutification! If you have any drawing skills and are interested, we plan on creating peanuts caricatures of people in order to publicize the show. we will be doing this during sundays at Country market, Prairiefest and any other available venue. Talk to renee Niederkorn for more info! 4. PrairieFest Plan on walking in the parade, handing out flyers, and joining in on the flash mob! More info will be emailed to you as things progress towards Prairiefest. 3. I want your ideas! We need to collaborate for publicity on this show! We have a tiny cast in comparison to the other shows. Let’s try and join in on other publicity events, especially with “13;” every wednesday they will be doing a Publicity blitz. We will join them and continue them after “13” has ended. More info will come weekly via email. A car wash or two are in the works. Otherwise, please feel free to throw out some ideas.
