K-2 Summer Reading 2015 - Bensalem School District

K-2 Summer Reading 2015
Bensalem Township School District
Reading is the most important skill your child will ever learn; it affects everything we do for the rest of
our lives. To maintain all that your child has learned this school year, it is IMPORTANT to keep reading every
day, all summer long. Reading is a life long process that needs daily practice to become proficient.
The public library offers many “child centered,” free opportunities to make reading fun. Call the
Bensalem branch for a schedule of events (215-638-2030).
Read to your child; have your child read to you. Buddy your child with older and younger siblings to share
books and learning. Read signs as you drive. Ask your child help you grocery shop where they need to ‘read’ labels
to find the correct products. Tap into every opportunity to make words come alive.
This year your child has been involved in the K-2 SUPERKIDS Reading Program. Remember to go online
and play the Superkids activities and reading games. Also have your child review any take-home books and word
workbooks from their work with Superkids this year.
The attached lists are suggested titles and authors that are tried and true favorites of children in the
K-2 age group. Many of the noted authors have other titles that would also be great ideas to read.
