Reminder
As a reminder, students must pass Math, English, and Reading to be
promoted to the fifth grade. This will be stressed all year. I cannot stress
enough the importance of studying each night and ask that you make sure
your child is doing so. If you and I see that your child is struggling in a
subject area, I can refer you to an after-school tutor. Please do not
hesitate to contact me if you would like for me to refer you to someone.
Lunch Menu
Monday: Chicken nachos, beefy nachos grande, or chef salad
Tuesday: Chicken nuggets, baked ham, or chef salad
Wednesday: Taco soup, beef and bean burrito, or chef salad
Thursday: Hamburger steak with gravy, seasoned backed chicken, or chef
salad
Friday: Stuffed crust pizza, beef-a-roni, or chef salad
Important Information
We are winding down the fourth grade. I cannot stress enough how
important it is for your child to be at school every day all day if
possible. I understand students are sometimes sick and need to be out
of school for the day but ask that checkouts be kept to a minimum. If
students miss one class, they miss a lot of material that is being
covered. We are trying to prepare these students for fifth grade in
which they will have six classes instead of three classes. Having
already been there, it is much harder for a student to catch work up
for six teachers instead of only three. Again, please make sure you
are keeping checkouts at a minimum and are checking your child out
only in case of emergencies.
Please make sure your child is at school on time every day. The first
bell rings at 7:45, and the tardy bell rings at 7:50. If your child
enters the building after 7:50, he/she will be counted tardy, unless
his/her bus was running late. Per the updated student handbook, a
student in grades K-4 may be exempt from attending school during
exam week in May if he/she has 5 or fewer absences during the
school year. Checkouts count towards absences. If a student has
6 or more absences, he/she cannot be exempt from exam week
attendance. You may refer to the student handbook on the school
district’s website for more information.
*** As soon as we receive information on the exact dates for
end-of-year testing, I will pass those along to you. ***
If you have not signed up to receive text messages from me using the
Remind system, please do so. It is a free service to all of us. On your
smartphone, text “@k3f34” to number “81010.” You will receive a text
message verifying that you have joined my classroom text messaging
system. You may then add that particular number to your contacts in
your phone. If you need to send me a brief text at any time asking a
question or explaining something about your child, you may do so after
you have added the number to your contacts. It will only be a private
conversation at that point, not a group conversation. I can assure you
that this Remind system works as my daughter’s teachers at the
middle school and I have messaged each other privately. With the
bad-weather months approaching us, I will use the Remind system to
let you know if school has been canceled because of snow, ice, or any
other type of inclement weather.
*** If you haven’t paid your child’s activity fee, please do so as
soon as possible. This is $20. If you can’t pay it all at once,
please send what you can. ***
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns you may
have. Have a great week!
