Manual NEC telephone
1. I-call
This burns when you have
missed a call.
2. Security lock
Via this button you can block your
telephone. The telephone
switches in a screensaver mode.
To de-block you need to press
the button again. The password
to de-block is 0000.
3. Call indicator
This button lights up when you
are called and remains on when a
voicemail message has been
recorded.
4. Display
The phone has a display on
which information is being
showed. The information you see
depends on the situation of the
phone (receiver down, telephone
rings, you are calling).
5. Exit button
Use this function to exit the soft
button menu (see info below).
6. Soft buttons
Several functions will be shown at
the button line of the display.
These functions can be activated
by the soft buttons directly below
the display. The three arrows
[>>>] in the display indicate that
more functions are available.
7. Help button
You can retrieve information on a specific function via the help button and consequently
use a soft button.
8. Programmable functions
You can program the eight function buttons within the red area for e.g. quick numbers or
quick codes. The four outer buttons are reserved to be programmed. The button at the
upper left indicates the status of your telephone line. Read more about programmable
functions further in this manual.

9. Recall
When you press the button recall during a transfer, you immediately hear a dial tone,
without first going back to the first call.
10. Feature
With this button you can program various functions on your telephone.
11. Answer
Via this function you can have a switch call. This function is not activated as a standard,
but can be activated on request by the LIS Service Desk [email protected].
12. Mic
Switch on the microphone for hands free calls.
13. Menu
Via the menu you have access to the user functions. The following functions are
available:
• History (call information)
• Setting - User Setting (with this you can apply user settings, such as ringtone,
ringtone volume, call indicator color).
14. Phone book
The phone book cannot be recalled temporary via your telephone. Soon, the function will
be available via Business ConneCT.
15. Enter
Via this function you can recall missed calls.
16. Other
You can execute three actions with this function:
• You can set the display contrast when the receiver is down.
• When the telephone rings, you can set the volume.
• When you are making a phone call, you can set the volume.
17. Redial
With this function you can retrieve your five last chosen numbers. When you want to call
someone via this function, press #.
18. Speaker
With this function you can turn on the speaker for calling hands free. Read more about
calling hands free further on in this manual.
19. Transfer
With this function you can put calls through and hold a consultation. Read more about
transferring calls further on in this manual.
20. Hold
With this function you can temporary put someone on hold. Read more about putting
someone on hold further on in this manual.

Important functions
On hold
To put a call temporary on hold, you have to do the following:
1. Press the button
. The call will be on hold and the person whom you were talking to
will hear a melody.
2. If you put the receiver down, the connection with the telephone will remain active.
3. The call indicator light will blink.
4. You get the person off hold by pressing the button line display.
Transfer/consultation
1. Press the
button, the first call will be put on hold automatically and you hear the dial
tone.
2. Dial the number you want to connect the call to or whom you wish to talk to.
o If you only wish transfer a call, you can directly put the receiver down or wait till
the call is being answered and then hang up.
o If you want to discuss, you have a second call.
3. To continue the first call, you again press
hold.
4. Press
; the second call will be automatically put on
to transfer between two calls.
Attention! You can also put through to a quick number. You can directly press the quick
number when you’ve programmed a ! in front of the quick number. In this case you don’t
need the
key anymore. Read more about quick numbers further on in this manual.
[DND] function
The [DND] (Do Not Disturb) function is visible on the display when the receiver is down. If you
activate this function you are unreachable by phone. You activate this function by pressing the
soft key directly under the [DND] notification. The display will show [ÇDND] which means Cancel
DND. To clear this function you press the soft key directly under the notification.
Forward call
Various types of forward calls are displayed in the table below:

The three forwards [FDA], [FDN] and [FDB] will appear on the display as soon as you take the
receiver up. At first instance you only see the [FDA] function, but by pressing the soft key under
the arrows [>>>] the other two forward functions will appear.
1. You activate the wanted forward function by pressing the soft key directly under the
function code.
2. Consequently press the number you wish to forward to. The display shows the notification
[FORWARD SET].

3. If you want to clear the forward function, pick up the receiver and press the accompanying
soft key. The display will show the notification [FORWARD CANCEL]. All your activated
forward calls are visible at the display. You will see e.g. [ÇFDA], [ÇFDN], and [ÇFDB].
With the receiver down and by pressing a soft key you can see which number the call is
being forwarded to. The notification [FORWARD] will be shown on the display followed by
the number you have forward the call to.
Listen to the voicemail
If you want to listen to your voicemail on your own phone you do the following:

Call the voicemail system [8989] with your own phone. If you use another phone, such as
a mobile phone, you dial 013 466 8989.
Enter you personal code (often the same as your telephone number, unless the personal
code has been changed).
Press 4 to listen to the messages.
Follow the instructions. Press [1] for yes and [2] for no.
More information about voicemail is available in a separate manual.
Log out
When you want to log in on a telephone which is already logged in, you need to log out first. Use
the button at the upper right corner (near the programmable functions).
Login

Press the four numbers of your telephone number at [Login: ]. You can erase a wrong
number by pressing the soft key under [BK] = Back.
Go to the next line in the display by pressing the soft key under [Set].
Enter a four number combination at [Passwd: ]. As a standard this is similar to your
telephone number. The numbers will not be shown on your display, instead you'll see
[****]. You can erase a wrong number by pressing the soft key under [BK] = Back. You
can also cancel the login procedure by pressing the soft key under [Cancel].
Finish the login procedure by pressing the soft key under [OK].
Change password
• Press *29
• [OLD PASSWORD] will appear on the display, please fill in your old password. [
• NEW PASSWORD] will now appear on the display, please fill in a new password with a
minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 figures.
• [REPEAT] will appear on the display. Fill in your password again as a confirmation.
• The text [SET] will appear on the display. Your password has now been changed.
Attention! Please remember your password (e.g. mail it to yourself). If you forget your password,
the telephone exchange needs to reset it. Contact the LIS Service Desk to reset your password
or your Local Automation Unit (LAU).
Call hands free
1. Leave the receiver down and turn the speaker and microphone on by the keys with the
symbols
(speaker) and
(microphone). A red light will burn when the functions are
set and you hear a dial tone.
2. Dial the telephone number and wait till the call is being answered.
3. You end the call by pressing the button
. The speaker and microphone will both turn
off. If you want to have a hands free call directly again you can also end the call with the
(recall) button. You directly hear a dial tone.

Program keys by quick number dialing
1. Press the (Feature) key
2. Press the programmable function which you want to assign a number.
3. Press the Recall
button. A question mark will be shown.
4. Enter the preferred telephone number or code.
5. Close by pressing
.
Conference call
You can have a conference call with a maximum of three persons at the same time.
1. Call the first participant and ask him or her to wait.
2. Press the button
. You hear a dial tone.
3. Chose the number from the second participant.
4. The notification [CONF] will appear on the display. Play the soft key under [CONF] to
switch on the conference call.
5. The three persons can now have a conference call.
Attention! If one of the participants cancels the conference call, the other two can just continue
the call. The conference call light will turn off.
