The variables from the “MD Over read” section of the “Echo Worksheet” have been deleted (see
annotated form) – used for administrative purposes.
The "Video MOD #" on the echo worksheet has not been captured. Video MOD's are physically labeled
by study date (SDATE).
Multiple measurements were done for each echo measure (see protocol for details). Only the average
of the measurements appears in this dataset. The standard deviation is based on the multiple
measurements. The standard deviation was calculated as follows: (i) if average of the measurements
was “unknown”, then the standard deviation was set to “unknown” (ii) if only one measurement exists, in
other words, there are not multiple measurements, then the standard deviation was set to “unknown” (iii)
if all the measurements are identical then the standard deviation was set to “0”.
The calculations for the average of the measurements, for standard deviations as well as formulas for
LV fractional shortening (x104), LV end diastolic volume (x111), LV end systolic volume (x118), LV
stroke volume (x125), LV ejection fraction (x132) and LV mass (x153) were calculated programmatically
rather using the echo analyzer's calculations. The formulas are stated in the coding manual.
The following echo variables will be found in subsequent dataset updates: selected aortic and mitral
valve 2D and Doppler measurements and qualitative variables, LV systolic function percentage
(qualitative), mitral and aortic stenosis (qualitative).
The value ranges, number of observations and cohorts stated in this manual are based on the original
dataset. In some cases, observations may be deleted due to participant consent form restrictions or
cohort participation. If observations have been deleted from this dataset, the value ranges, number of
observations or cohorts may differ from those stated in this manual.
