With the variety of rides, market stalls, multicultural food and entertainment, this year’s Carnival will be AMAZING. There are still some important things to remember, if you haven’t already: Checklist Return raffle ticket stubs, including all unsold Return orders for unlimited ride wrist bands Return your volunteer slip or contact Kyla Miller with your availability at [email protected] Bring stall donations to your classroom – here’s a reminder of what each year level needs: Year Stall Donations Required When/Where Prep BBQ Washed tomatoes, lettuces, grated cheese or wrapped cheese slices On the day, to the staffroom One Home Made Cakes Home made cakes, wrapped, with ingredients list, no cream, no shop bought cakes thank you On the day, to the staffroom Two Lucky Jars Clear jars filled with treats and goodies (to be sold @ $3) Now, Year 2 Classroom Three Spinning Wheel Items to go into themed hampers * These items must be new and unused * Stationery eg. Smiggle, Officeworks items Pamper e.g. bathing, relaxation, treats, essential oil Art & craft e.g. paper, paints, colouring pencils, stamps, ink, stencils, scrapbooking, accessories (Spotlight, Riot) Cooking & afternoon tea e.g. kitchen items, books, tea, biscuits, cupcake cases, utensils no fresh foods Gardening e.g. tools, seeds, gloves, books Linen e.g. towels, face washers, tea towels, aprons Now, to a Year 3 Classroom Four Toys Good quality second hand toys or books no fast food freebies, no soft toys, all game and puzzle pieces intact Now, to a Year 4 Classroom Five Games Arcade Bags of Freddos, Chuppa Chups or Natural Confectionary Company Smoothie Chews Now, to a Year 5 Classroom Six Haunted House Old picture frames, Mirror, Skeletons, scary dolls, coffins, candelabra, old clocks, rags, dim lights (coloured, LED, lamps), torches, cobwebs/spray, creepy doorknob, old wooden chair, axes, black sheets/paper. Now, to a Year 6 Classroom Did you know… that we need 200 volunteer hours to run the stalls, plus more in preparation next week and on Friday, including pack down? We DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH VOLUNTEERS currently!! Extra Volunteers for Special Projects 1. Spinning Wheel Hamper Wrapping – NEXT Thursday 14th November, 9.00am in the staffroom Please come along to the staffroom and help to create the beautiful hampers that become our Spinning Wheel Stall prizes. Contact Wendy [email protected] if you are available. 2. Curry Master Class Volunteers – NEXT Thursday 14th November, 3.30-­‐7.30pm Would you like to take part in a FREE curry master class? We need six volunteers to help prepare food for our “Curry On @ the Carnival” stall. Learn and assist in the preparation & tasting of the three most popular curries, from a professional! Junior Caterers for Poppadam Stall – at the Carnival Curry On @ the Carnival will be supported by a student run Poppadam Stall, selling poppadams, dips and drizzles. Please contact Jai [email protected] if your child is interested in helping out on this stall. Did you know… that we are extremely lucky to have this year’s food preparation overseen by catering professional and Mount View parent Jai Arya. As well as preparing amazing curries, Jai is liaising with the council to ensure that ALL our carnival food complies with strict regulations. Things to Remember on Carnival Day 1. Carnival Day is a FREE DRESS DAY! 2. Bring cash – there are no cash withdrawal facilities on site. The Unlimited Ride Wristbands will cover most of the rides, but you will still need cash for: • Dunk the Teacher – purchase tickets from the ticket booth on the day. • Fire Engine Ride tickets – purchase at the ride (get in quick, places are limited!) • Other PA Stalls – e.g. Face Painting, Nails, Crazy Hair, Balloons, Glitter Tattoos. • Food – and this will be the best international and Aussie food that we have ever had! • Marketplace stalls – stallholders will not have EFTPOS facilities. 3. The Marketplace will begin trading from 3.00pm – this year’s Marketplace is much bigger than 2012 with a wider range of stalls, so get in early before the crowds! See attached for stallholder list. Did you know… that as well as being fantastic fun for all who come, the Carnival is THE BIGGEST FUNDRAISER for OUR school each year? Last year we raised over $20,000. And finally… Did you know... our carnival started just 6 years ago as a Twilight Food Festival? It has grown through the support & co-­‐operation of the school and its families and now requires months of planning and preparation. Let’s make 2013 the best year so far!
