IIDA Award winning interior designer, Cynthia Leibrock, will be sharing wisdom and knowledge from her own experience in making ‘second nature’, the use of Universal Design principles in every-day design work. She will be sharing slides of her own home which has been featured on the cover of The New York Times. Her mission is to improve health and longevity for people of all ages and abilities, and this is called universal design. Some of her prominent projects include a universal design exhibit for The Smithsonian with Julia Child; The Betty Ford Center; automotive interior design for Toyota; and The Kohler Design Showroom in which over one million consumers have learned about universal design. She also teaches two courses in the architecture department of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. She has written three books including “Design Details for Health”, the text used in the EID 370 Universal Design – Inclusive Environments studio course.
