The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office works in conjunction with the Safekids Greater Thumb
and Saginaw Organization to provide a Child Safety Seat Program to the citizens of Tuscola
County. The program gives instruction and safety tips for Child Car Seats. Deputies from
the Sheriff’s Office work together with other volunteers from various agencies. The Deputies
and volunteers are all certified as car safety seat technicians by the Safekids Organization.
Car Seat Events are held at various festivals throughout Tuscola County. At the event,
certified technicians from the Sheriff’s Office and Safe Kids will check the car seat to
determine if it is appropriate for the child. The seat will also be checked to determine if the
car seat is expired or recalled. If the car seat is not appropriate, the seat will be replaced if
able. If the seat cannot be replaced, information will be provided about what would be
safest for the child.
