Registration Information
There are three ways to register:
Register by mail. Send r egistr ation for m, payment, pr oof of r esidency, and pr oof
of age (if applicable) to the Community Learning Center at the Clarkstown Learning
Center, Congers, NY 10920. Make checks payable to the Community Learning Center.
Register in person. Br ing r egistr ation for m, cr edit car d, check or cash, pr oof of
residency and age (if applicable) to the Community Learning Center at the Clarkstown
Learning Center, 9 Lake Road, Congers, NY 10920. In person registration is available
each week day from 10 am—3 pm.
Register on line. Go to www.ccsd.edu/clc and click on the link for online payments.
Schoolbucks is our new online registration system. If you alr eady have an account
with Schoolbucks choose the first link. If you would like to register online without
creating an account, use the guest log in. Click on “school stores” then “Categories”
then “Community Learning Center”. Choose the course or courses you would like. Pay
with a check or credit card. Your registration is sent to us instantly!
Senior citizens 60 years of age or older will receive a 20% discount. Proof of age is
required to receive discount. Does not apply to courses that have a senior fee noted or
otherwise state no discount. Clarkstown Central School District employees receive a
10% discount. Discounts cannot be combined.
If there is low enrollment, a class may be cancelled. You will be contacted by phone
or email if there is a cancellation. Cancellations are not decided until a few days before
the start of the class.
If you want to cancel a registration, a full refund is only available if a written request
is received prior to the start of the first day of class. No refunds once a class has
begun.
Emergency Closings: Emergency closings will be posted on the district website
www.ccsd.edu. You can also check our recorded announcement at (845) 639-5628. In
the event of a cancellation, every effort will be made to add another week to the course
if possible.

Muscle Strength and Endurance for Seniors
Move to music through exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of
motion, and help with every day functions. Elastic tubing and balls are used for
resistance. A chair is available for seated or standing support and is used to incorporate
some of the exercises. Course designed for men and women. Improve your agility,
balance, muscle strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and speed. All levels
welcome. Bring water and 1lb—3lb weights.

Canine Life & Social Skills (5 months or older & completed Basic Obedience)
Level 2. Dog should have earned his B.A. or be able to pass pr ior to fir st class. Will
teach obedience skills and manners that your dog may not have yet, strengthen those he
does, and provide him with the skills needed to pass the M.A. level of the C.L.A.S.S.
(Canine Life and Social Skills) test, which is given the last class. This class prepares
you and your dog to take and pass the 2nd level, “M.A. for Dogs”. Some of the “real
life” skills that are assessed are waiting in the car until you release him to exit, passing
by other dogs calmly, staying in place/coming when called/walking on a loose lead with

Introduction to Agility NEW !
Agility is a dog sport involving teamwork between a dog and handler as a dog is lead
through, over, under, and across obstacles as well as around the course where these
obstacles are set up. In this entry-level course, you will learn the basics and foundations
of canine agility. This class is designed to expose you and your dog to agility
equipment (similar to those used on a professional agility course) and teach the basics
of maneuvering through the course. Agility is a great way to improve communication
with your dog, have fun, and exercise his body and mind! Please note that your dog
should have enough self-control to work around other dogs without being disruptive.
Must have completed Basic Obedience or be evaluated by the trainer prior to taking this

In this course your dog will learn to use the power of his amazing nose to search for a
specific odor and find its source. Nose work is a fun ”search-and-scenting” activity for
any age or breed of dog. It’s a great activity for both of you that takes advantage of your
dog’s innate desire to hunt and ability to pick up scents. The goal of this course is the
learn the nose work games with your dog and have fun while building your dog’s
confidence. Allow your dog to use his nose and you will be amazed by what he can do!

Raising Your Pup! (Humans only)
Everything you ever wanted to know about raising your puppy! This one time course

Mosaic Stained Glass Workshop
Working with stained glass pieces, you will make a variety of projects such as picture

Growing Roses in Rockland County
During this presentation we will share the basics on rose care from choosing the right
cultivars and varieties for the site and conditions. We will explain planting, pruning, and

Write Your College Essay
Seniors who enter senior year with a solid college essay draft find they have better
results with less stress. We will engage in generative writing exercises, brainstorm
topics, strategize, and draft essays. Students will have an opportunity to work with Dr.
Johnson one-on-one to refine essays. Students may work on college-specific essays if
they would like to. Bring a pad of paper, pens, pencil and water.
