This training will begin with a review of some basic behavior intervention information that is critical for all strategies impacting children with challenging behavior. While behavior modification principles are a basis for changing a child’s behavior into something more appropriate, there is a limit to its long-term effectiveness and use with young children. This session will provide a variety of strategies and ways of thinking about challenging behavior that incorporates teaching of new behaviors while giving children increased selfcontrol and self regulation. Anyone faced with the opportunity of working with young children who present behaviors that can be frustrating, worrisome, annoying, dangerous, or anything else you define as challenging, will benefit from this training. As usual, the use of real life examples accompanied by humor and fun will be included to promote strategies that may not always be those used in the “heat of the moment”. The day promises to fly by with engaging information and activities. He has also worked in private practice and currently is at UT teaching in Early Childhood and Special Education. He was named as the Ohio School Psychologist of the Year in 1992. Ron is an excellent and entertaining speaker.
