Reifenhauser Inc., a German maker of equipment used in plastics manufacturing, is moving its North American headquarters to
Wichita from Danvers, Mass. Wichita is already home to Reiloy
Westland Corp., which Reifenhauser bought late last year. “When
they bought us they said they weren’t buying us for our equipment,
they made it very clear they were buying us for our people. They
believe in the people of Wichita,” said Dave Larson President of
Reiloy Westland’s.
The Attachment Center of Kansas will move from the Tallgrass
Office Park to 7777 E Osie, Suite 310 in the Cherry Creek Business Park. The Attachment Center provides counseling services,
and specializes in children 10 years of age and younger. Kris Wessel of NAI Martens handled the deal.
Hobby Lobby has started construction on a 55,000 SF building at
Regency Lakes, located at 21st & Greenwich. Also within Regency
Lakes is SuperTarget, World Market, Cabela’s and Hampton Inn &
Suites. It will be located between World Market and Cabela’s.
Bionic Burger is opening in the former Taco Tico location at 3257
E. Harry. Troy Farha of NAI Martens represented Bionic Burger.
Kansas has an estimated 69,500 women-owned companies, employing 72,100 and attributing roughly $10 billion to the economy according, to the third annual State of Women-Owned Business Report.
Twelve Restaurant & Bar is opening in the former Shorty Small’s
space at the Westlake Retail Center at 119th & Maple. The restaurant will have seating for about 150 people and another 25 on the
patio and plans to open in June.
Freebirds World Burritos will be opening its first location in
Wichita near Central & Hillside. It will open in the middle of June in
the same center as Great Wall.
Headshots Bar & Grill will be opening in the former Backstage
space in Oxford Square at 21st & Woodlawn. The 3,000 SF bar
and grill will open on June 1.
Lindsey Medical Supply is opening in 8,000 SF near Central &
West. It will occupy the west half of 3737 W. Central, while Chiropractor Dr. Dennis Scharenberg will continue to lease the east half.

Rockabilly’s is opening at 7007 E. Harry, between Rock Road
& Woodlawn. The 7,000 SF space will feature a three-bar layout,
which will have a rock/country bar, a karaoke bar and a sports bar
in the middle third.

Preferred Pension Solutions relocated from the Terradyne Building to 724 SF at 3710 N Ridgewood. Preferred Pension Solutions
provides companies with administration and consulting services
for their Qualified Retirement Plans. Kris Wessel of NAI Martens
handled the deal.
Case New Holland’s plant in Wichita is one of six manufacturing
facilities in the country named to Industry Week’s “Best Plants”
list for 2012. Industry Week has highlighted Case New Holland in
the past for its use of lean manufacturing techniques. Wichita’s
Q1 industrial vacancy rate is 7.6% compared to 9.6% nationwide
(source: Martens Appraisal and CCIM’s Quarterly Market Trends).
CVS has received its fourth building permit for another Wichita
store located at 3149 E. Harry near Harry & Hillside. CVS opened
its first store on April 28th at 13th & Maize.
Rogue Personal Training is moving to the former Pure-Formance
Sports and Fitness Training Center space at 1641 N. Andover Road.
The 5,000 SF building near Central & Andover will open in early June.

Paradise Donuts and Coffeehouse will be opening a second
location on the west side of Wichita near Maple & Maize in midto-late summer. The 3,000 SF building at 20607 W. Maple was
a former Wonder Bread store. The other west side location is at
3107 W. Central.
Kansas ranks 7th among states on Thumbtack.com’s small business survey, receiving an overall grade of “A” for Small Business
Friendliness, up from an “A-” in 2012.
Three dental practices are moving into 15,000 SF near 37th &
Maize Road. Professional Endodontics is moving from 1,729
SF at the Reflection Ridge Office Park near 21st & Maize to about
4,000 SF in the new building. Trimmell & Anders Orthodontics
is moving its west Wichita office from Maple & Maize and the final
tenant will be Tiny Teeth Pediatric Dentistry.
Versona Accessories opened in Bradley Fair last week. The 7,500
SF space is located between The Fresh Market and Pier 1 Imports
on the south end of the shopping center at 21st & Rock Road.
Easygates is moving from 2,900 SF in Tallgrass Executive park
to 4,600 SF in the Polo Club Office Park near 13th & Rock Road.
Easygates is the master franchisor of Easyhome lease-to-own with
stores in 36 states.

Wichita is among the first class of mid-size cities participating in a yearlong program to implement sustainability projects. The Urban Sustainablility Accelerator, established last year, supports smaller and mid sized cities
in making strides in sustainable development. The cities were selected
based on their desire and capacity to advance sustainability policies.
QuikTrip has obtained a building permit for 750 S. Broadway at the
corner of Kellogg & Broadway. A QuikTrip “Gen-3” store is planned,
making it the second “Gen-3” in Wichita. This will be the 38th Quiktrip
overall in the market, with a completion date of fall 2013.
Airbus is adding 10,000 SF to its Old Town engineering facility. The
expansion started May 1. The new building is adjacent to Airbus’ existing
buildings and will share the same North Mead address.
LSI is moving to 9111 E. Douglas, the former Pizza Hut headquarters, at the Ruffin Building. The five-year lease is for 19,000 SF of the
254,000 SF building. Ally, CCH and Pure-Formance Sports and Fitness
Training Center are also tenants.
Justin McClure Creative is leaving its Delano district space at 575 W.
Douglas for a new space in Old Town, at 121 N. Mead, Suite 104. The
4,000 SF space is located behind the Wichita Business Journal’s offices
and is more than twice the size of their previous office. The move should
be complete this summer.
Espresso To Go Go is moving to the Zelman building at the corner of
Douglas & St. Francis. The coffee shop has been operating from 1973
Airstream trailer selling coffee at different spots around Wichita. (See
photo.) The new location will open in May.
The Workroom will be opening in 2,200 SF in the newly renamed Domestic Design Building, formerly Domestic Laundry building, at 1425 E.
Douglas. The Workroom will offer home tech textile fabrication, such as
custom drapes, pillows and bedding.
Lifeboat Creative will move from the Garvey Center into a 3,300 SF
street front space in the Zelman Lofts building on the corner of Douglas
& St. Francis in June.
