MESSAGE FROM THE
GENERAL MANAGER
I think we made it out of the Winter-time blues and
into Spring! I love the freshness of March and April
and I would love to see you here enjoying it with us!
As many of you know, (and
many of you may not know),
2014 is a celebratory year
for City Club. The Club was
organized and began signing
up members in the Fall of
1984. We will be having a
big celebration for you all
(our Members) in the Fall
for our 30th anniversary. I
will be running little contests
Peggie Muir
throughout the year in various
General Manager
places to see if ANYONE
is paying attention to our written matter. This issue
of the newsletter has something in it about this with
further instructions. Have fun!
On Friday, March 28th, the Terrace Wine Tasting will
be featuring a side-by-side comparison of Italian vs.
Texas wines…something very different than our usual
tastings. I wonder how they Texas wines will compare?
We will actually be tasting in the Terrace and dining
upstairs in the 4th floor gallery and surrounding rooms.
Another different twist to this extremely popular
event! See page 6 for details.
You won’t want to miss the complimentary Lunch
and Learn presented by Whitaker, Chalk, Swindle
& Schwartz, PLLC on the second Thursday of the
month…March 13th for Michael Hutchens speaking
on “Disability Accommodation in the Workplace”.
On, Thursday, April 10th, Stephen Mosher will be
speaking on “In Introduction to Patenting in the United
States. See page 9 for details.
On Thursday, March 20th and Wednesday, April
23rd, Julie Rosenthal will be presenting a new program
called Financial Education Series. These are
complimentary educational presentations. Julie will
be discussing respectively “Social Security” and “The
Basics of Texas and Federal Estate Planning”. See
page 9 for details.
Page 2
On Sunday, April 20th, we have our beautiful Easter
Brunch…an event not to be missed. You can have
your family photo taken with the Easter Bunny and
each child receives a gift from the Bunny. So dress up
and bring your family for a truly wonderful event! See
page 3 for details.
On Wednesday, April 23rd, we are offering a beautiful
Administrative Professional Luncheon buffet for you
to treat that person or those people who frankly, make
you look good! See page 4 for details.
On Friday, April 25th, for our wine tasting, we travel
back to Sonoma County and the Central Coast of
California for white and red wines from those areas.
Of course, always complimentary to the members
and their guests. These events are so much fun and
if you’ve never come to one before, you should start
now. See page 6 for the details.
In the Women’s Fitness Center, our members are
participating in some fun Fitness Challenges. The
winners win some pretty darn good prizes and the
participants get in shape! See page 12 for details.
Call or email me anytime you want to talk to me,
whether its good news or bad, I always appreciate
hearing from you! You can reach me at:

NEW TO THE CELLAR
2010 Kathryn Hall
Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon
Ratings:
96 Points Robert Parker
94 Points Vinous – Antonio Galloni
93 Points Wine Spectator
92 Points International Wine Cellar
About the Winery:
Hall Wines is located in Napa Valley and employs organic small-vine viticulture,
precision winemaking, wild-yeast fermentation and micro-block blending to
fully extract the purity and quintessence of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Their estate vineyards encompass more than 300 acres of classic Bordeaux
varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. The Halls have
a strong respect for the environment and a commitment to cutting edge
technology to yield the highest quality grapes. Through meticulous attention
to detail in the vineyards, Hall wines are able to express the unique and
diverse character of Napa Valley’s soils and climate.
About the 2010 Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon:
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon is another
big, beautifully pure, multidimensional, textured and impressive effort
revealing lots of crème de cassis and spring flowers, full body and long, sweet
tannins. Again, brilliant winemaking has turned out a terrific 2010 that should
evolve for two decades or more. Readers should
not miss this portfolio of compelling 2010s. Kudos to former
Ambassador to Austria, Kathryn Hall. “
Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate
“A flamboyant wine, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn
Hall flows across the palate with the essence of raspberry jam,
spices, licorice, flowers and crushed rocks. This voluptuous,
totally sexy Cabernet Sauvignon captivates all the senses with
its sumptuous fruit and fabulous overall balance. The style is
rich and opulent but also beautifully balanced at the same
time. With time in the glass, the wine fleshes out a bit more,
showing its considerable power and intensity.”

ANNIVERSARY
NEWS!
City Club was organized and began to accept
members 30 years ago this Fall.
The Club was built to give Fort Worth a true, modern
club with the quality of service and amenities that
were missing from the other local clubs in and
near downtown Fort Worth. At the time, the Bass
family was building Sundance Square and the two
Bass Towers. They felt the city needed a beautiful
place where businessmen and women could meet
to conduct business or relax in a retreat from the
tumult so characteristic of the lives of successful
people.
In celebration of this 30th anniversary, we are going
to have some fun with it!
In your statement bulletin for February 2014, there
was a small box at the bottom that asked members
if they knew why there would be some celebratin’
at City Club in 2014. The first three to email Peggie
Muir, our General Manager, each WON a very nice
bottle of wine as follows:
1st Place: Chris Lawler won
Merrvale Starmont Cabernet…valued at $48
2nd Place: Alison Hadley won
Ferrari-Carano Merlot…valued at $38
3rd Place: Leslie Webb won
Hahn Cabernet…valued at $28
Congratulations to these members! They were
very quick on the draw and had the answer exactly
correct. And obviously, they were paying attention
to their bulletin!
This issue of the newsletter has the year the Club
was organized somewhere within the newsletter
but it does not count in the Manager’s Message…
it is somewhere else. Find it, email your answer to
Peggie at [email protected] and you, too, can
win a bottle of wine if you are the first, second and
third member to respond. You have to also name
the page and describe where it is on the page.

FITNESS CHALLENGES
The Women’s Fitness Center has been organizing monthly Challenges to add some fun and incentive to
working out.
The challenge for January was the “Stairs Challenge.” Jessica Davidson won with a total of 1,430 flights of
stairs! Leslie Keathley came in second place with 1,207 flights of stairs, and Sheila Rayner came in third with
322 flights of stairs.
First place won a $100 City Club Dining Certificate; Second place won a $60 Certificate; Third place won a
$25 Certificate.
Over 25 members participated in the Stairs Challenge—Congrats to all of them! It was a tough challenge.
MARCH FITNESS CHALLENGE
Is a CARDIO CHALLENGE
Accumulate miles on the treadmill, Stairmaster, and the
rowing maching. Whoever accumulates the
most miles wins the challenge.
The same prizes will be awarded as for the
Stairs Challenge in January.

Sally Greenwood is a trainer with City
Club and has been instructing our
Boot Camp for over 17 years! She
is tough but is so much fun and she
really knows how to bring out the best
in each participant. She takes the
class outside as much as possible to
the TCC campus, the Trinity River and
to the Sundance Plaza. The class is
co-ed and the members that take her
class range in age from 29 to 64. Join
the group on Mondays and Fridays
from 6:30 am to 7:30 am. She usually
starts at 6 am with a nice warm-up
and then they head to their remote
location at 6:30. Members join in
anywhere between 6 am and 6:30 am.
We’ll see you there!
