I love the freshness of March and April and I would love to see you here enjoying it with us! As many of you know, (and many of you may not know), 2014 is a celebratory year for City Club. The Club was organized and began signing up members in the Fall of 1984. We will be having a big celebration for you all (our Members) in the Fall for our 30th anniversary. This issue of the newsletter has something in it about this with further instructions. Have fun! On Friday, March 28th, the Terrace Wine Tasting will be featuring a side-by-side comparison of Italian vs. Texas wines…something very different than our usual tastings. Kudos to former Ambassador to Austria, Kathryn Hall. “ Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate “A flamboyant wine, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall flows across the palate with the essence of raspberry jam, spices, licorice, flowers and crushed rocks. This voluptuous, totally sexy Cabernet Sauvignon captivates all the senses with its sumptuous fruit and fabulous overall balance. The style is rich and opulent but also beautifully balanced at the same time. With time in the glass, the wine fleshes out a bit more, showing its considerable power and intensity.” Antonio Galloni - Vinous Kathryn & Craig Hall Barrel Sampling the New Vintage Page 7 ANNIVERSARY NEWS! City Club was organized and began to accept members 30 years ago this Fall. The Club was built to give Fort Worth a true, modern club with the quality of service and amenities that were missing from the other local clubs in and near downtown Fort Worth. At the time, the Bass family was building Sundance Square and the two Bass Towers. They felt the city needed a beautiful place where businessmen and women could meet to conduct business or relax in a retreat from the tumult so characteristic of the lives of successful people. In celebration of this 30th anniversary, we are going to have some fun with it! In your statement bulletin for February 2014, there was a small box at the bottom that asked members if they knew why there would be some celebratin’ at City Club in 2014. The first three to email Peggie Muir, our General Manager, each WON a very nice bottle of wine as follows: 1st Place: Chris Lawler won Merrvale Starmont Cabernet…valued at $48 2nd Place: Alison Hadley won Ferrari-Carano Merlot…valued at $38 3rd Place: Leslie Webb won Hahn Cabernet…valued at $28 Congratulations to these members! They were very quick on the draw and had the answer exactly correct. And obviously, they were paying attention to their bulletin! This issue of the newsletter has the year the Club was organized somewhere within the newsletter but it does not count in the Manager’s Message… it is somewhere else. Find it, email your answer to Peggie at [email protected] and you, too, can win a bottle of wine if you are the first, second and third member to respond. You have to also name the page and describe where it is on the page.
