Encouraging Hope and Creating Opportunities

Raintree Children and Family Services
2012-2013 Annual Report
Dear Community Supporter:
Raintree has had yet another successful year of serving the Greater New Orleans area. We were able
to serve a total of 418 children and youth across programs. We could not have done this without
you! Our continuous focus is on the safety, health and overall well-being of each child we serve.
This past fiscal year we were successful in working out some of the kinks in assisting Louisiana’s
Department of Children and Family Services in implementing a new Coordinated System of Care
for children in foster care with behavioral health needs. Raintree’s Support Coordination program
was able to offer uninterrupted services despite cuts to Medicaid this past year and services offered
after school continued with partnerships in six locations in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard
parishes.
The children served this year were able to thrive and reach new goals. We’ve been able to assist over
200 children experiencing developmental delays in reaching their targeted milestones and have
provided intensive round the clock services to almost 100 foster care children. Additionally, we’ve
helped to develop 86 youth by educating them on violence prevention and teaching needed social
skills to ensure academic and personal success.

to support our mission here at Raintree because without you success would not be possible!

Encouraging Hope and Creating Opportunities
for independent lives
Raintree 2012-2013
Annual Quality Improvement Report
Raintree Children and Family Services completed yet another
great year. The agency’s fiscal year period July 1, 2012 – June 30,
2013 served as another year to provide much needed services to
children and families. State and private funds afforded the agency
an opportunity to carry out its’ mission of providing an array of
services to vulnerable persons in our community encouraging hope
and opportunity for independent lives. In line with the mission,
there are key values that Raintree incorporates into its practices:
Commitment, Integrity, Security and Hope.
2012-2013

“Despite my past, my future will
be both positive and something
to remember. I will use my
determination and motivation to
ensure that I become the person
I want to be.”

During this past fiscal year, programs faced new challenges with
periods of low enrollment and had difficulty in reaching some
goals. Just as last year, programs continue to face an uphill
challenge as a result of state government changes. Nonetheless,
program outcomes shined!
During this fiscal year, a total of 418 children and families were
provided services throughout the Greater New Orleans Area as
compared to last year which was 476, a 12% decrease. Of those
program participants, 56% were female and 44% were male; 67%
were African American, 21% Caucasian, 7% Hispanic and 5%
other races. 45% are of Jefferson Parish, 42% are of Orleans, 4%
of St. Bernard and Plaquemines, and 9% from other surrounding
parishes.
Total Program Expenses for the Year: $1,600,370
Program participants and providers were surveyed. Of those
returned, 94% were satisfied with their services.
2012-2013 Afterschool Outcomes
Raintree Afterschool Program served 86 at-risk children, youth
and their parents. Ninety percent of participants achieved
learning outcomes. Initiated in 1989, the program provides
education to students, 6 to 17 years of age, determined to be atrisk for disciplinary action. Parental participation is encouraged
and supported throughout the year. Prevention groups were
offered at schools in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes.
Family Support Coordination Success Story
Jordin Bolton
When Jordin was born on January 5, 2013, she was nearly
two months premature. With her beautiful brown eyes,
she was a fighter from the beginning. Despite being in the
hospital the first 18 days of her life, Jordin made exceptional
progress when she became a part of the Raintree family.
Through our Family Support Coordination program, she
received help for communication, motor skills and cognitive
skills. Now she is a happy baby who loves to play. She
activates all of her interactive toys and loves to toss balls.
She can even hold a bottle by herself! Jordin will continue
to flourish with the guidance of therapists, her parents and
Raintree.

2012-2013 Raintree Family Care Outcomes

provides supportive services to foster families willing to
provide their homes, loving care, and guidance for children

birth and 21 years were provided services in Raintree’s
private and therapeutic foster care programs. This year
