Suggested At-Home Activities
Read books over and over again containing rhymes.
-As you read, have your child complete the rhyming word at the end
of each line.
-Orally provide pairs of words that rhyme and pairs that do not
rhyme (EX: pan/man; pat/boy). Ask, “Do ‘pan’ and ‘man’ rhyme?
Why? Do ‘pat’ and ‘boy’ rhyme? Why not?”
Remember:
We will have a fluency
check and a spelling
test this Friday.

Please complete the following for nightly spelling homework.
There should be writing paper in your blue folder.
Monday: Write each spelling word 3 times each.
Tuesday: Write one sentence with each spelling word.
Wednesday: Study your words.
Thursday: Take a practice spelling test. Parents, please call out
the words and have your child write them down.

Writing Homework!
Practice writing and reading sentences! Remind your child that each
sentence must begin with a capital letter and end with an end mark
(.!?). As they read sentences, have them touch the beginning and the
end to check.
