Col’Cacchio pizzeria (kol-kaa-key-oh) 25 YE ARS OF MAGIC Our story starts with an incredible love of pizza and gourmet deliciousness. Michael and Kinga, two youngsters, shared a vision of owning and running their own restaurant that would serve only the freshest and finest Italian-inspired food, from artisanal wood-fired pizzas, to pastas and fresh salads. So, in 1992, they embarked on an adventure that would lead them to pack up everything, move from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and create the beginnings of what is today Col’Cacchio pizzeria. Kinga had been in the restaurant industry for a number of years and that, along with Michael’s entrepreneurial vision and passion for their new endeavour, created a winning recipe. When looking at sites for the restaurant, that they still own today, Michael came across an old building in the Foreshore of Cape Town and immediately saw potential in its 1800’s charm. Kinga meanwhile was working her magic in the kitchen and creating our very first Col’Cacchio pizzeria menu, with the values of innovation and passion going into every meal they crafted. We won’t tell you that opening night was perfect, but we will say that 25 years later we are staying true to the dream of quality artisanal food and the desire to be at the forefront of food innovation.
